Employee Benefits

City Employee Benefit Package

The City of Hollywood offers generous benefit packages depending upon applicable employment classifications and employment status. For specific information on the benefits received, please refer to the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Most benefit packages for full time employees include the following:-

Vacation

Eligible employees earn vacation time per year. The amount earned is dependent on the employee’s years of service, classification, and the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Sick Leave

Eligible employees accumulate 12 days of sick leave per year. Eligibility to accrue sick leave begins with the first day of work, and there is no limit on the amount of sick leave that may be accumulated.

Sick Leave Pool Program

Employees may participate in the City's Sick Leave Pool Program upon the completion of one year of employment and with a minimum accumulation of ninety-six (96) hours of sick and/or vacation leave. This program entitles eligible employees to participate in extended sick leave benefits for cases involving non-work related catastrophic, or long-term illnesses, or injuries.

Retirement Plan

Eligible employees are required to participate in the City’s Retirement Plan. This is a defined retirement plan, with a required pre-tax contribution. Contribution amounts vary depending upon employment classification.

Health Insurance Benefit Plans

The City of Hollywood offers the following health insurance benefit plans for eligible employees:
  • Dental Plan
  • Medical Plan (PPO)
  • Prescription Drug
  • Vision Plan
The City of Hollywood is self-funded. The medical, dental, and prescription drug benefits are administered by Cigna, and the contributions are payroll deducted on a pre-tax basis. The Vision Plan, through VSP,  is a fully insured employee voluntary product.

Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRA)

The City of Hollywood contributes funds annually to eligible employees' HRAs accounts.  These funds are available on a "use it or lose it" basis to be used for IRS approved medical expenses that are not reimbursed.  Funds are normally available by January 1st and expire by the December 31st of the same calendar year.  Any unused amounts will be returned to the City's Health Fund.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

Eligible employees can also participate in the City's 125 Flexible Spending Plan, a way to set aside a portion of pre-taxed dollars to pay for qualifying out-of-pocket medical expenses or dependent care. These funds are elected during Open Enrollment or upon hire and expire December 31st and are subject on a "use it or lose it" basis.
