56th Avenue Public Safety Training & Maintenance Facilities 
Construction of a Fire Rescue and Police Training Facilities along with a lakeside park and recreational facility and a Public Works staging area.

Kaufmann Lynn Inc. is the General Contractor for the 7 phases of this project currently under construction. These phases consist of:  
 
I A 15,275 SF vehicle maintenance garage and warehouse storage building is complete and presently being prepared for occupancy.  
II An 11,236 SF Training building is complete and is also bein prepared for occupancy  
III A 34 space parking area adjacent to the training building is complete.  
IV A Public Works staging area is near completion as the grounds are being cleared, cleaned and readied for use.  
V A playground, picnic shelter, walking path, and amenities are being completed in anticipation of opening in July.  
VI The two obstacle courses are complete and ready for use for the Hollywood SWAT and K-0 divisions.  
VII The 56th Avenue Roadway in front of the facility has been widened, new sidewalks, bus stops, landscaping and turn lanes have been completed.  
VIII The new 3 story training tower is complete and is ready to be used for fire/rescue and police training exercises.

Central Fuel Station Improvements 
Removal and disposal of existing dispensers, the Island, concrete, asphalt paving, footings and the canopy. Phase II included the construction of a new footing, canopy, asphalt and concrete paving, new storm drainage, drainfield and new fuel dispensers.

The concept of diverting traffic from the left lane of 21st Ave., north of Taft St., in order that emergency vehicles egressing the new Fire Rescue Station can travel against traffic to Taft St. has been accepted. Final details have been worked out between City Staff, our Consultant McMahon Transportation Engineers and Planners, and Broward County Staff and permits are being secured. 3 bids were received and the Resolution will be presented to the City Commission on 6/16/10.

GOB Project: Fire Vehicles 
New Fire Engine, Aerial Platform, and ALS.

The new Fire Engine, Aerial Platform, and ALS have been delivered. Personnel training has been completed along with the installation of the communication and fire equipment. All apparatus have been placed in service.

GOB Project: Public Safety Technology 
This project funded technology enhancements for the Police Department to include the acquisition of hardware and software, laptop computers, and wireless access points. Police personnel can now accomplish field reporting, crime analysis and research in their vehicles.

Thus far, 274 laptops have been installed into police vehicles. An additional 25 laptops are proposed to be purchased for the Crime Suppression Team and Vice, Intelligence and Narcotics Unit.

IT Computer Room Air Conditioning Upgrade 
The evaluation and planning process for new HVAC equipment for the City Hall Computer Room is complete. 100% plans for the electrical and mechanical systems are complete. IT has requested that we separate the electrical portion and advertise it for bid separately.

Marina Dock B, C and D Repairs 
It has been determined that 40% of the support beams (double Ts) have serious spalling, 44% of the visible reinforcing cables are rusted and 25% of the beams are cracked. Temporary restrictions have been put in place by PW limiting the number of people allowed on the docks at one time. A concrete encasement design has been prepared which will facilitate repair to the structures on a permanent basis. Nine (9) bids were received on 5/28/10 and are currently being evaluated.
