[ARCHIVED] Bus Shelter Improvement Project along US 1 Underway

FDOT Bus Shelter Improvement Project

The Florida Department of Transportation is improving Bus Shelters along US 1 from SE 9th Street in Hallandale Beach to SE 30th Street in Fort Lauderdale. FDOT has awarded a contract to Florida Engineering and Development Corporation for these improvements. This $1,034,836 million dollar project is to include:

  • Installing 11 bus shelters along the project limits. Including in Hollywood
  • Upgrading signalization at 18 intersections to provide traffic signal priority for public transit buses
  • Installing a crosswalk, pedestrian signal crossing and associated curb ramps on SR 5/US 1 at NE/NW 1st Street in the City of Dania Beach

Construction began in October, 2019 and is anticipated to be completed in Spring 2020.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

• Single lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and Monday through Thursday between 8:30 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. at specific work zone locations, as needed.
