[ARCHIVED] Gracewood Neighborhood Sidewalk Project

Gracewood Sidewalk Program

The City of Hollywood is applying for a grant to fill in missing sidewalk sections in the Gracewood neighborhood surrounding West Hollywood Elementary School and McArthur High School.  The primary purpose of this project is to improve pedestrian safety by providing a safe network of interconnected sidewalks that will allow people of all ages and abilities to travel to and from the many schools and retail locations in the area.

Additionally, the addition of several bicycle mobility options, including an 8 foot wide multi-use sidewalk on North 63rd Avenue between Hollywood Boulevard and Johnson Street would also provide students a safe way to ride their bikes to and from school in the area.

The grant process, in part, requires “community support” for the project. The City is offering a number of online options where you can lend your support for the project:

  • Click here to sign the online petition
  •  Attend the virtual meeting on Thursday, October 29th at 6:30 p.m.
  • Visit the City's social media sites to lend your support
  • Email the City to lend your support

Up to $3 million in grant funding is available for this project as part of the Complete Streets and other Localized Initiative Programs (CSLIP), administered by the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization.

  • Substantial number of street segments without sidewalks and/or missing curb and access ramps
  • Low number of bicycle lanes

  • Construct 3.5 miles of new 5 foot wide concrete sidewalk with curb ramps to fill-in missing sections and connect to the existing sidewalk infrastructure within the Gracewood neighborhood
  • Project boundaries Johnson Street to Hollywood Boulevard between 64 Ave and US 441-State Road 7
  • Proposed sidewalks will be installed in existing swale area
  • Remove approx. .5 miles of existing sidewalk on west side of N 64th Ave and replace with 8 foot wide multi-purpose concrete sidewalk between Hollywood Blvd. and Johnson Street
