The City of Hollywood is teaming up with Governor Ron DeSantis and numerous state agencies to help launch Florida’s inaugural “Food Waste Prevention Week.” The mission of Food Waste Prevention Week, which runs from April 5th through April 9th, is to raise awareness and inspire all to address food waste in the home, workplace and community. Up to 40% of all food waste occurs in the home, even when 1 in 5 Floridians lack consistent access to nutritious foods. By reducing food waste, your family can save, on average, $1,500 a year.
For the launch of Food Waste Prevention Week, City employees are joining with others to participate in the Food Waste Reduction Hero Photo Challenge. For more information, visit www.savethefoodFL.com. Together we can reduce food waste in Florida.
