Schools Closed Beginning
Next Week

South Florida school districts have announced closures in their response to the growing coronavirus outbreak. Broward County and Miami-Dade Public Schools and the Archdiocese of Miami have announced the closure of all their schools beginning next week.

  • Broward County Schools: Effective March 16-27

  • Miami-Dade County Schools: Effective March 16

  • Schools of Archdiocese of Miami: Effective March 17

  • Palm Beach County Schools: March 16-27


Broward County District-operated Before and After School Child Care Department will offer free child care to Broward County Public Schools families at nine locations, which will be confirmed for parents to register by Sunday, March 15th. On-site registration will also be available on Monday, March 16th. Priority will be given to families of Broward County Public Schools employees and Broward County Emergency personnel, such as police, firefighters and medical staff.

In addition, the School District will provide food to students on free or reduced-priced meals and their families. These meals will be available at eight high schools across the District: Blanche Ely, Boyd Anderson, Dillard, Charles W. Flanagan, Hallandale, Miramar, Nova and J.P. Taravella. The Regular City Commission Meeting is currently scheduled to take place on Wednesday, March 18th at 1:00 p.m. following the CRA Board Meeting at 9:00 a.m. at City Hall.

Due to the current public health emergency created by COVID-19 and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Florida Department of Health to avoid large gatherings of people, the public is encouraged to watch the meetings via Hollywood Community Television on Comcast Channel 78 or AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. You can also watch live online on the City's website.
 
Those who choose to follow the recommendation to watch the meeting from home rather than attend in person, may submit public comments on any agenda item by emailing the following:

In light of the social distancing recommendations due to COVID-19, the City is encouraging customers to utilize the many services currently available online to avoid traveling to a City facility. More information and links to the available services can be found on the City's website.

City-sponsored events have been cancelled through the end of March and other programming has been impacted due to COVID-19. Effective Saturday, March 14, all City-programming held indoors within Community Centers will be cancelled until further notice. All organized athletic leagues, games, races and tournaments held at City recreational facilities will be cancelled until further notice.  Outdoor parks and recreational amenities are open to the public, but the public is encouraged to use social distancing when using these outdoor public areas.

Hollywood Beach and City-operated outdoor parks and recreational amenities are open to the public during normal operational hours, but the public is encouraged to use social distancing when using these outdoor public areas and other best practices to help stop the spread of germs.
