Health Restrictions

On Friday, March 13th Governor Ron DeSantis issued an executive order prohibiting visitation to assisted living facilities, nursing homes, long-term care facilitates and group homes across Florida for 30 days in an effort to stop the spread of novel coronavirus among some of the state’s most vulnerable population. A few exceptions could apply, such as end of life situations. Caregivers should check with their loved ones' facility directly for additional information.   

To keep all patients, families and staff safe from possible exposure to COVID-19, Memorial Healthcare System is limiting visitation to only primary caregivers for individual patients, and limiting visitors to one primary caregiver for each patient. Everyone else, including siblings of any age, may not visit.

Commission Meetings

Wednesday, March 18
The Regular City Commission Meeting is currently scheduled to take place on Wednesday, March 18th at 1:00 p.m. following the CRA Board Meeting at 9:00 a.m. at City Hall.

Due to the current public health emergency created by COVID-19 and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Florida Department of Health to avoid large gatherings of people, the public is encouraged to watch the meetings via Hollywood Community Television on Comcast Channel 78 or AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. You can also watch live online on the City's website.
 
Those who choose to follow the recommendation to watch the meeting from home rather than attend in person, may submit public comments on any agenda item by emailing the following:

Schools Closed Beginning
This Week

South Florida school districts have announced closures in their response to the growing coronavirus outbreak. Broward County and Miami-Dade Public Schools and the Archdiocese of Miami have announced the closure of all their schools beginning this week.

To help curb the impact school closures will have on our community, Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is offering free child care for emergency responders and medical employees who work in Broward County and for essential BCPS staff. Child care will be available from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. from March 16 – 20, for kids from Pre-K through 8th grade, at the following elementary schools:

Food and Nutrition Services for Students Who Receive Free/Reduced Meals

The School District will provide food to students on free or reduced-priced meals and their families. Breakfast will be offered from 8 – 10 a.m., and lunch will be offered from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. The meals will be provided during regular school day closures, which are:

Updates & Cancellations of City Events and Programs

City-sponsored events have been cancelled through the end of March and other programming has been impacted due to COVID-19. All City-programming held indoors within Community Centers, including aftercare programs,  have been cancelled until further notice. All organized athletic leagues, games, races and tournaments held at City recreational facilities will be cancelled until further notice. Outdoor parks and recreational amenities are open to the public, but the public is encouraged to use social distancing when using these outdoor public areas.

Hollywood Beach and City-operated outdoor parks and recreational amenities are open to the public during normal operational hours, but the public is encouraged to use social distancing when using these outdoor public areas and other best practices to help stop the spread of germs.
