As the City moves forward with the reopening of parks, recreational areas and businesses in Hollywood, we must all continue to take the necessary precautions to protect our safety and well-being. Please remain vigilant in following the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Florida Department of Health guidelines. Compliance with these recommendations is critical as we transition from safer at home orders to reopening businesses.

Permitting System Maintenance Begins TodayBeginning today, Thursday, May 21st, at 6:30 p.m. the Building Division's permitting system is scheduled to undergo routine maintenance. During the maintenance period, permitting services, including intake, payment, scheduling of inspections and the online inquiry tool will be temporarily unavailable. Operations are expected to resume normal activity on Tuesday, May 26th at 7:00 a.m. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience while we work to improve our permitting experience.

Backing Business: Hollywood’s New Expanded Outdoor Dining Zones Signal Return to BusinessHollywood restaurants are increasing their capacity by expanding outside dining options in designated Temporary Café Zones beginning today. The new zones have been established by the City in an effort to support local Hollywood businesses. Expanded outdoor dining locations may be found in Downtown Hollywood, along the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk and in public and private commercial areas adjacent to established restaurants city-wide. The new zones are in place every Thursday at 2:00 p.m. to Monday at 5:00 a.m. now through June 22nd.
Inside the new café zones, customers will find expanded safety measures in place including table groupings distanced 6-feet apart, disposable or single-use items, and service personnel regularly sanitizing common touch points. For the safety and enjoyment of all, responsible customers are reminded to wear a mask and not loiter or gather in groups.
Hollywood restaurants are encouraged to take part in this temporary program. For those wishing to participate, please submit your Certificate of Insurance and Indemnification using the City’s online submission form. Broward County Businesses Continue to ReopenThis week, Broward County joined into the State's Phase 1 Safe. Smart. Step-by-Step Plan for Florida’s Recovery. Under the Phase 1 order, some businesses previously closed or open only for certain activities have reopened with restrictions. These businesses include: - Professional Services
- Restaurants and Food Establishments
- Personal Services such as barbershops and salons
- Drive-In Movie Theaters
- Community Rooms, Fitness Centers and Gyms in Housing Developments
- Public Community Pools and Private Club Pools
- Museums

City and Broward County Administrative offices will be closed on Monday, May 25th, in observance of the Memorial Day national holiday. City online services remain available to customers and garbage, bulk and recycling will be collected as regularly scheduled.

Important Information Regarding Special Commission Meeting – Annual Advisory Board AppointmentsThe City of Hollywood will be conducting a virtual Special City Commission Meeting for the Annual Advisory Board Appointments on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 3:30 p.m. using Communications Media technology (“CMT”). Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order No. 20-69 pertaining to conducting local government meetings while under the public health emergency related to the Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In accordance with this order and due to a prohibition of public access to Hollywood City Hall, 2600 Hollywood Blvd, Room 221, because of the risk to public health, the City is offering a number of options for board/committee appointees and members of the public to view and participate in the meeting. • The Agenda is posted on the City’s website Watch the Meeting:Option for the General Public to Participate: Any member of the public wishing to comment may do so via the City’s website- Comments are limited to 400 words and/or 3 minute spoken maximum.

- Staff will read the comments into the record during the meeting. All comments received during the submission period will become part of the public record.

Online Surplus Auction Underway Now - Auction Closes Tuesday, June 2nd at 7pm
The City contracts with a company called "Bidera" to handle public auctions of surplus items. As part of their contract they inspect each item, write up a description, take detailed photographs and then host the auction. Hollywood is just one of many local municipalities to use the Bidera online auction site to sell surplus items with the goal of realizing the best possible price to the benefit of taxpayers.
Police cars, panel trucks, vans, pick-up trucks, cars and other miscellaneous vehicles are up for auction right now - 70 vehicles in total are in this auction lot.
The auction closes on Tuesday, June 2nd at 7:00 p.m. Anyone interested can visit the auction site and submit a bid here

Annual Water Line FlushingProgram Happening NowThe City's Department of Public Utilities' Annual Free Chlorine Line Flushing Program is underway. The free chlorine portion of this program will end June 15th. If necessary, flushing may continue across the City through June 30th to achieve optimal system maintenance. Several City Parks and Recreational Facilities and the Hollywood Broadwalk Now Open In the continuing effort to protect the safety and well-being of our community, those visiting parks and recreational facilities must follow the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Florida Department of Health, including wearing facial covering and social distancing. City-operated parks and recreational facilities will remain open contingent upon visitors' compliance with these recommended guidelines.
