City of Hollywood COVID-19 Update

As the City moves forward with the reopening of parks, recreational areas and businesses in Hollywood, we must all continue to take the necessary precautions to protect our safety and well-being. Please remain vigilant in following the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Florida Department of Health guidelines. Hollywood Beach Restrictions Remain in Place

Hollywood Beach is Open for Limited Active Recreation 

Use Restrictions to be Lifted Tomorrow, Wednesday, June 10th

Hollywood Beach remains open with limited recreational use at this time. Permitted uses include limited ocean activities (such as surfing, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, body surfing) as well as limited active recreation and exercise (such as walking, running, biking).

Beginning at 12:01 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, June 10th,  ocean activities, limited land based active recreation, picnicking, sunbathing, lying on beach and the use of umbrellas, canopies, chairs, loungers, and coolers will be permitted. Please visit www.hollywoodfl.org to view detailed guidelines in place for beach use.

City Facilities Reopen to the Public Tomorrow, Wednesday, June 10th

Hollywood City Hall will reopen to the public tomorrow, Wednesday, June 10th for Building and Permitting Services, Parking and Code Compliance, and Utility Account Assistance, governed by capacity limitations and social distancing restrictions. All are encouraged to continue to use the City's many online resources.  
 
Please note: both the CRA and City Commission Meetings scheduled for Wednesday, June 17th will be held in a virtual format. Information on the public's participation virtually will be disseminated with the meeting agendas on Thursday, June 11th. Additionally, the lobby in the Hollywood Police Headquarters Building has reopened to the public. Community Centers and additional recreational facilities are slated to reopen to the public on Monday, June 15th. For more information, please visit www.hollywoodfl.org

Free COVID-19 Testing

Free COVID-19 Walk-Up Testing Site in West Hollywood

Florida Department of Health in Broward County, in partnership with the City of Hollywood, is hosting a free COVID-19 Walk-Up Testing Site at the Boulevard Heights Community Center, 6770 Garfield Street in West Hollywood from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the following days:

  • Wednesday, June 10

  • Thursday, June 11

  • Friday, June 12

  • Saturday, June 13

  • Wednesday, June 17

  • Thursday, June 18

  • Friday, June 19

  • Saturday, June 20

No appointment necessary. Those interested in securing a set day and time are encouraged to call 954.412.7300 to schedule an appointment.  
What Do I Need To Know In Order To Be Tested?

  • Anyone can be tested regardless of age. Those under the age of 18 require parent or guardian consent.

  • Anyone can be tested regardless of symptoms.

  • Bring your appointment confirmation number with you, if you made an appointment.     

What Happens When I Arrive?

  • Each individual will be greeted and directed by personnel in protective gear. 

  • Each individual will be asked to provide their government issued ID, first and last name, health insurance card and contact information.

What is the Testing Process?

  • A health professional in personal protective equipment will provide you with instructions. 

  • A soft swab will be inserted into your nose or throat to get the necessary sample. This may be slightly uncomfortable; however, the test is quick and should take less than a minute.

What Happens After I Am Tested? 

  • After you have been tested, you will be given information on what to do while awaiting test results. Please keep the instruction sheet until after you receive your results. 

  • Follow signage and directions for exiting the testing site. 

  • After being tested, continue to monitor and record symptoms. 

  • You will receive your test results via telephone call. 

Micro-Enterprise Small Business Assistance Program

City Offers Grants to
Hollywood's Small Businesses

 
Beginning today, Tuesday, June 9 at 10AM, qualifying businesses may submit an online pre-application form for the City of Hollywood Micro-Enterprise Small Business Assistance Program. As part of the City's "Backing Business" initiative, this Program will grant eligible businesses with funds of up to $5,000 to pay for up to three months of allowable business expenses. The pre-application window will close upon receipt of 300 applications and the City anticipates awarding 95+ grants, which will be selected through a lottery process of approved applicants.

In order to complete a pre-application, businesses must:

  • Be a “for-profit” enterprise operating legally in the City of Hollywood *Not-for-profit organizations and home-based businesses are not eligible to participate in the Program*

  • Be legally operating for at least 2 years and in good standing with the City, without outstanding property code enforcement issues

  • Have no more than 5 employees (full-time, part-time, including owners)

  • Be within a critically impacted business sector

  • Be located within the City's LMI boundaries *Enter your business address into our interactive map to verify eligibility*

  • Upload a copy of City of Hollywood Local Business Tax Receipt and, if applicable, State of Florida Business License

Backing Business Temporary Cafe Zones to Expand Outdoor Dining

Hollywood’s Expanded Outdoor Dining Zones 

Hollywood Beach Broadwalk: Thursday at 2:00 p.m. to Monday at 5:00 a.m.

Downtown Hollywood: Saturday at 6:00 a.m. to Monday at 5:00 a.m.
 now through June 22nd.

Annual Water Line Flushing

Annual Water Line Flushing Program Underway City-wide

The City's Department of Public Utilities' Annual Free Chlorine Line Flushing Program is underway. The free chlorine portion of this program will end this Sunday, June 15th. If necessary, flushing may continue across the City through June 30th to achieve optimal system maintenance.
