Temporary Beach Closure Closed July 3rd - July 5th

Temporary Beach Closure
with Restricted Use of the Broadwalk July 3 - 5

The City of Hollywood has joined with Broward County and other coastal communities to temporarily close the sandy beach from 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 3rd until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, July 5.

During this time, businesses along the Broadwalk will remain open with existing restrictions related to facial coverings, capacity limitation, etc. The Broadwalk may only be used to access these business establishments. All recreational uses of the Broadwalk shall be prohibited during this period. In addition, the walking/bicycling area north of North Beach park from Freedom Street to Perry Street will also be closed to recreational use.

Utility Billing Temporarily Unavailble

Utility Billing Payment System  Temporarily Unavailable Through July 1 at 1 a.m. 

The Utility Billing Payment System will be shut down for routine maintenance on Tuesday, June 30th at 4 p.m. The system will be down until Wednesday, July 1st at 1:00 a.m.

During this period, payments will not be accepted via the web or by phone, but you will still have access to view your utility account online. Utility Billing apologizes for the inconvenience this may cause customers. Click here for more information or options for paying your utility bill. 

Master Plan Moderated Meetings

Cultural Arts Master Plan

Input Opportunity Today at 6pm


The Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts (PRCA) is offering additional opportunities for you to share your thoughts regarding the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Master Plan. This plan will shape the direction and priorities of the department for the next 3-5 years.

There is one remaining Input Opportunity 
this afternoon at 6 p.m. The session will be moderated by PRCA Director Cory Styron and will take place virtually via the Webex Application.

If you are unable to join the moderated session, you may view the presentation at www.playhollywoodfl.com. While there, you may review the presentation and click on the link to participate in one of the online surveys - there is a specific survey for adults and one geared towards youth.

Public Auction City Vehicles

Surplus Auction Closes Today

Auction Closes at 7 p.m.

A Surplus Auction featuring vans, trucks, cars and other City vehicles is currently underway and runs through today at 7 p.m.

The City contracts with a company called "Bidera" to handle public auctions of surplus items. As part of their contract they inspect each item, write up a description, take detailed photographs and then host the auction. Hollywood is just one of many local municipalities to use the Bidera online auction site to sell surplus items with the goal of realizing the best possible price to the benefit of taxpayers.

In accordance with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ Executive Order No. 20-69, the City is offering a number of options for members of the public to view and participate in the July 1st meetings.

  • Staff will read the comments into the record during the meeting. 
  • All comments received during the submission period will become part of the public record.

Please note:  All members of the public must wear a mask at all times when inside City Hall. All members of the public must have their temperature taken upon entering City Hall. Staff will direct the public to the designated seating area where they will be able to hear the meeting. Once the meeting begins and maximum indoor capacity has been reached, no other members of the public will be allowed in the designated seating area. The City Clerk will call out the names of those wishing to speak in-person, at which time they will enter the chambers and step up to the podium. When done speaking, participant should exit City Hall. In-person participants commenting on multiple items may return to the designated seating area and wait for their name to be called again.

In accordance with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ Executive Order No. 20-69, 20-112, 20-123, 20-139 and 20-150, the City is offering a number of options for members of the public to view the Workshop.

Virtual Board/Committee Meeting

PRCA Advisory Board Meeting

The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts (PRCA) Advisory Board will be conducting a Virtual Advisory Board Meeting on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. using Communications Media Technology (“CMT”).

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order No. 20-69 pertaining to conducting local government meetings while under the public health emergency related to the Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). In accordance with this order and due to a prohibition on public access to City of Hollywood Parks Facilities because of the risk to public health, the City will be holding the meeting virtually.

Facial Coverings Required

Emergency Order Requiring Facial Coverings in Effect

Last week, the City of Hollywood issued an Emergency Order requiring all persons outside their homes to wear a facial covering consistent with current CDC guidelines that cover the nose and mouth, including individuals within the common areas of all buildings with multiple residences and at their place of employment unless exempted by Emergency Orders issued by the Governor of the State of Florida or Broward County. Free COVID-19 Walk-Up Testing Site in West Hollywood
Florida Department of Health in Broward County, in partnership with the City of Hollywood, is hosting a free COVID-19 Walk-Up Testing Site at the Boulevard Heights Community Center, 6770 Garfield Street in West Hollywood Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

No appointment necessary. Those interested in securing a set day and time are encouraged to call 954.412.7300 to schedule an appointment. Click here for additional information.

The City Hollywood has partnered with Memorial Healthcare System to offer healthcare to uninsured residents.  The mobile van will be located at Hollywood City Hall at 2600 Hollywood Boulevard, Monday through Thursday, July 6 through July 16.

Camp includes marine biology, oceanography, water safety and ecology; helping campers build upon their science disciplines.
