COVID-19 Emergency Order
COVID-19 Updates from Broward County

Broward County Issues Emergency Order 20-23

Curfew Extended Through August 3 at 5am, New Requirements for Vacation Rentals, and Other Important Updates

To further safeguard the community and slow the spread of COVID-19, County Administrator Bertha Henry issued Emergency Order 20-23 yesterday. The Order does the following:

  • While the facial covering requirements remain in full effect, the Emergency Order clarifies that residents are not required to wear them in their home, nor are they liable for facial covering violations of their guests.
  • The Order requires those limited vacation rentals allowed to operate to provide the email and telephone number of their 24/7 on-site management or security personnel to Reopening@Broward.org.
  • Outdoor, open air events are not permissible unless a reopening or operating plan is submitted to Reopening@Broward.org and approved by the County Administrator.
  • Restaurants and retail establishments have been operating under signage requirements for some time. The Order makes the signage requirements apply to all establishments and specifies that signs must be placed conspicuously, 8.5" x 11” in size, printed in color whenever possible, and posted in English, Creole, and Spanish languages at all main entry points. See Printable Signage
  • Clarifies that even though schools are excluded from the definition of “establishments,” schools are strongly encouraged to follow CDC guidelines. All extracurricular and non-academic activities must comply with Attachment 16 of Broward’s Emergency Order 20-21 (Youth Activities and Summer Camps).
  • Extends the curfew until Monday, August 3, 2020 at 5AM. The new Order adds to the list of exemptions people returning directly to their homes after one-way vehicular travel of more than 100 miles.
  • Clarifies that Attachment 15 governing beaches exempts environmental activities permitted by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission to operate beyond sunrise to sunset (e.g. sea turtle nesting program).

Tropical Storm Isiaias

Tropical Storm Isiaias

City of Hollywood Emergency Management staff and public safety personnel are monitoring the track and development of Tropical Storm Isiaias.  Residents are encouraged to review their emergency plans and make sure they are prepared for the potential of severe weather and possible tropical storm conditions.

Heavy rains and tropical storm-force winds may occur in south Florida, although it is still too soon for forecasters to determine precisely where these hazards will occur.

Residents are encouraged to continue monitoring this storm and should ensure they have a hurricane plan in place and not focus on the forecast track of Isiaias' center.

Residents are encouraged to use this time to finalize their personal hurricane preparations:
• Gather your hurricane supplies now if you have not already done so. You should have five to seven days’ worth of supplies, such as non-perishable food and water, for each person in your household.
• Residents should refrain from cutting trees or doing additional landscaping projects until after this storm passes. Solid/commingled and recyclable materials should be properly secured in a safe, sheltered location.
• Make plans to secure any outdoor items that could be blown around in the storm. Bring them indoors or otherwise secure them as the storm approaches.

Residents are encouraged to visit the City of Hollywood’s website at www.hollywoodfl.org/emergency for hurricane preparation tips and information regarding hurricane supplies.

Before, during and after a storm important information will be posted on the City’s website at www.hollywoodfl.org, shared via CodeRED Alerts, through NotifyMe “News and Announcements” email and text messages and on the City’s social media sites, Facebook and Twitter.
