Curbside Collections and On-street Parking Restrictions in Effect

The Department of Public Utilities water main replacement project continues in the Royal Poinciana neighborhood. Due to ongoing construction activities occurring in the neighborhood alleyways, the placement of garbage and recycling bins, as well as bulk items needs to move curbside to the front of a property.

To ensure collection trucks can access the bins and bulk items at the curb, parking on the street will be prohibited from 8:00 a.m. to noon on Mondays and Thursdays. This temporary on-street parking ban and change to curbside collections has begun and affects the following residents:

Service interruption due to COVID

Important Notice Regarding Impacts to Solid Waste, Recycling and Commingled Collections

City of Hollywood solid waste and commingled collections vendor, Waste Pro USA, has been heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Several WastePro crew members have tested positive for COVID-19 and have been under quarantine, which has resulted in service impacts City-wide. Until further notice, customers may experience temporary delays in recycling and commingled (Bulk & Yard Waste) collections.

The City of Hollywood Department of Public Works would like to thank customers for their patience and understanding during these unusual circumstances. Staff will continue to monitor the situation as they work to ensure service collections, with their primary focus on weekly garbage collections. This focus is to maintain the health, safety and sanitation of our community.

For questions or concerns, please contact the Department of Public Works at 954.967.4526.

Open Your Taps to Flush Your Pipes

With businesses reopening as we move forward in the Phase 2 COVID-19 reopening plan, the City of Hollywood Public Utilities Department recommends that businesses open their water taps to flush pipes prior to consumption. Buildings that have been closed up have seen a reduction in water use, which could cause stagnant water to settle in the plumbing. Follow EPA and AWWA recommendations for protecting water quality for your employees by flushing systems thoroughly prior to use.  For more information, please visit the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) website.
