Uncover Broward County Amendment TwoOn the November 3, 2020 ballot, Broward County voters will see a question regarding an amendment to the Broward County Charter. The Amendment 2 question, if passed, would allow the County to move forward on transportation surtax projects on County property within a City, without having to comply with the local municipality's zoning, regulations and ordinances. In other words, the City of Hollywood Ordinances would be bypassed if this amendment is approved by voters.
What is the ballot language?
COUNTY REGULATION OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF SURTAX-FUNDED TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENTS ON COUNTY PROPERTY
“To facilitate implementation of surtax-funded improvements to the countywide transportation system, shall the Broward County Charter be amended to provide that County ordinances regulating the development, including zoning, permitting, construction, operation, or administration, of transportation improvement projects that are (1) on County-owned or County-leased property and (2) funded in whole or in part with proceeds from the transportation surtax approved by the County’s voters in 2018, prevail over conflicting Municipal ordinances?” YES ____________ NO ____________
Potential impacts of Charter Amendment 2?
If Amendment 2 passes, the City will no longer have the ability to regulate the development, zoning, permitting, construction, operation, or administration of any transportation improvement projects on County-owned or County-leased property that are funded all or in part with proceeds from the transportation surtax. City leaders ask that you be an informed voter and have your voice heard on this important matter.

High seasonal tides can cause low-lying coastal areas to floodBased on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s tide predictions, above average high tides are expected. High seasonal tides, also known as King Tides, can cause low-lying coastal areas to flood. Motorists are urged to use caution and seek an alternative route to avoid traveling on flooded streets. Seasonal tides can raise the water level by more than 2 and a half feet during high tide which can cause coastal roads, parking lots and docks in vulnerable areas to flood during the times of high tide. The City is working on both short and long-term solutions to help minimize the impacts of tidal flooding. NOAA predicts above average high tides October 14th through 21st and again November 13th through 18th.

CDC Issues Temporary Halt on Residential Evictions Through December 31, 2020The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued an Order (under Section 361 of the Public Health Service Act) that temporarily halts residential evictions in an effort to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 through December 31, 2020. To invoke the CDC's order, persons must provide an executed copy of the Declaration form (or a similar declaration under penalty of perjury) to their landlord, owner of the residential property where they live, or other person who has a right to have them evicted or removed from where they live. Each adult listed on the lease, rental agreement, or housing contract should likewise complete and provide a declaration. Unless the CDC order is extended, changed, or ended, the order prevents these persons from being evicted or removed from where they are living through December 31, 2020. These persons are still required to pay rent and follow all the other terms of their lease and rules of the place where they live. These persons may also still be evicted for reasons other than not paying rent or making a housing payment. Executed declarations should not be returned to the Federal Government. You may find the Order hereYou may find the Declaration hereFor further information, you may contact Nina Witkofsky, Acting Chief of Staff, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1600 Clifton Road NE, MS H21-10, Atlanta, GA 30329; Telephone: 404-639-7000; Email: cdcregulations@cdc.gov
