Tropical Depression Eta forecast cone

South Florida in 5-day Forecast Cone for Tropical System

Eta is currently a weak tropical depression with maximum sustained winds of 30 mph. The storm is moving northwest at 9 mph over northern Honduras. It is expected to re-enter the Caribbean Sea tonight before making a sharp northeasterly turn toward Cuba.

An extended period of heavy rain and gusty winds is possible for portions of our area by this weekend, however uncertainty in the forecast remains. The heavy rain threat should increase late this week into the weekend. Flooding is a particular concern given saturated soil conditions in our area.

Forecast changes are likely so stay up-to-date with the latest information via a trusted source such as US National Weather Service Miami Florida or the NOAA NWS National Hurricane Center

want more sidewalks?

Gracewood Neighborhood Sidewalk Project

The City of Hollywood is applying for a grant to fill in missing sidewalk sections in the Gracewood neighborhood surrounding West Hollywood Elementary School and McArthur High School.  The primary purpose of this project is to improve pedestrian safety by providing a safe network of interconnected sidewalks that will allow people of all ages and abilities to travel to and from the many schools and retail locations in the area.

Additionally, the addition of several bicycle mobility options, including an 8 foot wide multi-use sidewalk on North 64th Avenue between Hollywood Boulevard and Johnson Street would also provide students a safe way to ride their bikes to and from school in the area.

The grant process, in part, requires “community support” for the project. The City is offering a number of online options where you can lend your support for the project:

CDC Temporary Halt in Residential Evictions

CDC Issues Temporary Halt on Residential Evictions Through December 31, 2020

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued an Order (under Section 361 of the Public Health Service Act) that temporarily halts residential evictions in an effort to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 through December 31, 2020.

To invoke the CDC's order, persons must provide an executed copy of the Declaration form (or a similar declaration under penalty of perjury) to their landlord, owner of the residential property where they live, or other person who has a right to have them evicted or removed from where they live. Each adult listed on the lease, rental agreement, or housing contract should likewise complete and provide a declaration. Unless the CDC order is extended, changed, or ended, the order prevents these persons from being evicted or removed from where they are living through December 31, 2020.
These persons are still required to pay rent and follow all the other terms of their lease and rules of the place where they live. These persons may also still be evicted for reasons other than not paying rent or making a housing payment. Executed declarations should not be returned to the Federal Government.

You may find the Order here
