Ocean Day Events Planned
The City of Hollywood is partnering with the City of Hallandale Beach, Broward County, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Friends of Our Florida Reefs and the Sierra Club of Broward to bring you Ocean Day.
Originally scheduled in April, the revamped event will now be multi-day virtual events. There will be one panel discussion per month in December through February to cover coral reefs, marine animals, and low nutrient landscaping. A native plant giveaway is also planned for March as a drive-through event. The first event information is as follows:
Florida’s Coral Reefs – Webinar

Interested in marine science, coral reefs, and/or our local environment? Join in a lunchtime panel regarding Florida's coral reefs, the issues they face, and the solutions being deployed. Student volunteer hours are available for those who attend and participate.
Experts to include: Kristi Kerrigan from Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Sarah Fangman from the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, Joe Unsworth from Rescue a Reef (UM), Alex Neufeld from the Coral Restoration Foundation, and Penny Cutt from Friends of Our Florida Reefs.
