Notice to Utility CustomersReinstatement of Disconnections for
Past Due Balances Begins October 1stOver one year ago, the City of Hollywood temporarily suspended its policy for service disconnections for past due balances. It was a way to help customers through a difficult economic time and to ensure water service was available for hand washing and other hygiene measures during the height of the pandemic. Customers were encouraged to stay current with their utility payments during this time if they were able, and to reach out for assistance in setting up a payment plan if they were not.
Considering the current positive trends in the COVID vaccination rate and declining COVID-19 positivity rates, disconnections and late penalties for past due utility balances will resume on October 1, 2021. Customers with an outstanding balance on their utility accounts have the following options: If you need assistance: Contact the Family Success Center for Broward County to apply for emergency assistance online here or by calling the Emergency Rental Assistance Hotline at 888-692-7203 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Public Access to City Hall & City Facilities Resumed. Online and Drive Thru Services Still AvailableWelcome back! Public access to City Hall and City facilities has resumed. Masks remain recommended for the general public and required for City staff while inside City facilities. In a continuing effort to help stop the spread of COVID-19, residents are still encouraged to use the City's Online Services to conduct business and utilize the drive through window at City Hall to pay bills and fees.
The Building Department's QLess Check-In Service should also be used to reserve your space in line before entering City Hall.

In-Person & Virtual Community Workshops Planned for Stormwater Master Plan UpdateThursday, July 15th and Thursday, August 5th The Department of Public Utilities will be hosting two public workshops to discuss the City's ongoing Stormwater system assessment, flooding mitigation plans, and the actions needed to adapt to sea level rise. These workshops are an opportunity for the public to share their past experiences with flooding events in Hollywood as a way to help guide the development of the Stormwater Master Plan. Issues to be discussed: sea level rise, flooding, saltwater intrusion, groundwater table, storm systems, water quality, storm surge, low-lying elevations, backflow flooding, high tides, infrastructure and resilience. About the City of Hollywood Stormwater Master Plan Update (SWMP)
The SWMP will review and update the City’s overall stormwater system to account for the projected effects of sea level rise, storm surge, and other extreme weather events. The assessment aims to identify and prioritize areas that experience flooding, and will induce a series of Capital Improvement Projects that appropriately update drainage systems and coastal infrastructure. The SWMP will define implementable actions for proactive planning for the City to adapt to sea level rise and flooding.

Washington Park Community Center Juneteenth is an historic celebration among African Americans that honors the announcement of the end of slavery. This family and community event is free and open to the public and kicks off with Junkanoo Dancers and Stilt walkers. The celebration will also include gospel performances, artists, motivational speakers and a bounce house for the children. The mission of the South Broward Juneteenth Celebration Committee is to actively preserve and promote the broad spectrum of African American heritage through educational and cultural activities that benefits the City of Hollywood and surrounding South Broward, Dade and Monroe County communities.

VACCINATION SITES There are currently 12 fixed vaccination site locations in Broward County. Nine of the sites are operated by DOH-Broward; three are operated by Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM).
Upcoming schedule updates: - FDEM has announced that effective June 18, 2021, their two vaccination sites at Broward College North Campus (Coconut Creek) and Vizcaya Park (Miramar) will close. Until then, they will dispense second dose shots only of Pfizer (Vizcaya) or Moderna (Broward College) and shots of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine (both locations) from 9AM – 5PM, seven days a week.
- Tree Tops Park site in Davie will close today, June 17, 2021, the sites at Snyder Park in Fort Lauderdale will close tomorrow, June 18, 2021, and the site at Pompano Beach CitiCentre will close on June 30, 2021.

Field Data Collections Crews at Work for North Beach Utilities Underground Conversion ProjectThe City has hired Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. as consultants for the design of the North Beach Utilities Underground Conversion Project. Residents in the North Beach neighborhood should expect to see crews from Kimley-Horn performing field data collections in the area.
Collection crews will be working in the area of A1A and Surf Road from Balboa Street to Franklin Street and in two additional sections at Douglas Street and Freedom Street over the next several weeks.
Crews will be inspecting meters and service entrances and taking photos and measurements to be used in the project design. Crews will be wearing neon vests and carrying identification available upon request.

Temporary Lane Closures
on 19th Ave between Tyler St
and Hollywood Blvd Temporary lane closures are underway along 19th Avenue between just north of Tyler Street and just south of Hollywood Boulevard. The closures allow for the installation of 500 feet of new watermain pipes. The lane closures will take place on a phased schedule over the course of the next 2-3 weeks. Work will begin in the area of Hollywood Boulevard and will continue north as the project progresses.
Inclement weather and unforeseen utility conflicts may alter this planned construction schedule. Detours will be in-place routing motorists around the construction zones. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route to avoid construction delays.
Florida Power and Light Construction Underway Contractors for Florida Power and Light will be installing new overhead and underground service as part of their ongoing Citywide hardening initiative. There are eight (8) locations with several involving closures and detours to the east and west of US 1 along Johnson Street between N. 21st Avenue/Dixie Highway and N.15th Avenue.
Nearly all of the work will be done along Johnson Street, however an adjacent alley east of N. 21st Avenue, as well as N. 20th Avenue on the north side of Johnson Street will also be closed. Motorists are asked to pay close attention to detour signing to avoid any congestion that may occur along the various detour routes.
This work is anticipated to be finished within two months.

New Rules for
Vacation Rental PropertiesOn January 20, 2021, the City made a number of changes to the Vacation Rental License Program Ordinance. Changes include a requirement that all existing vacation rental properties and properties being used as a vacation rental in the City of Hollywood must obtain a Vacation Rental License from the City of Hollywood, in addition to obtaining a State license and other licenses.

Broward County COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance ProgramApplication Portal Now Open
The Broward County Commission is working with community partners to launch an Emergency Rental Assistance program for residents who have been impacted by COVID-19 and meet certain income requirements.

Phase II Underway
in Parkside NeighborhoodThe ongoing Department of Public Utilities watermain replacement project is underway in the Parkside Neighborhood. Work will take place from Dixie Highway to Federal Highway from Hollywood Boulevard to Pembroke Road, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through February, 2022.
As a reminder: due to planned construction activities in the neighborhood alleyways, the placement of garbage and recycling bins, as well as bulk items will need to be placed curbside at the front of a property. To ensure collection trucks can access the bins and bulk items at the curb, parking on the street will be prohibited from 8:00 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday.
Phase II in this temporary on-street parking ban and change to curbside collections affects the following residents:
Washington Street to Hollywood Boulevard from Federal Highway to Dixie Highway

Hollywood is
Plastic and Foam Free on Hollywood Beach, at City-Owned Properties & by City VendorsThe City of Hollywood is committed to reducing our environmental impact and becoming more sustainable. One step the City has taken in achieving this goal is to ban the use of nonbiodegradable containers, like plastics and expanded polystyrene foam (EPS), for serving food products.
On October 1, 2018, any establishment located east of the Intracoastal Waterway selling food intended for consumption by customers off the premises of their business, was included in the ban. On October 21, 2020, the City Commission approved a ban on single-use plastics and polystyrene on City-owned properties and by City vendors. City-owned properties include community centers, Hollywood City Hall, Fire Stations and more. A six month grace period is now in effect, prior to citation for violations.
What types of food packaging are banned?
Cups, lids, straws, plates, bowls, utensils, sandwich containers, or other packaging, which are made of plastic, polystyrene plastic, or of any nonbiodegradable material are banned.
What is polystyrene and why did the City of Hollywood ban it?
Polystyrene, best known as “styrofoam,” is a non-biodegradable plastic material made from petroleum. It is commonly used in takeout containers, disposable coffee cups, single-use utensils and dinnerware. The material breaks apart easily, and is often found littered throughout waterways and can harm wildlife if ingested.
How do you identify polystyrene packaging?
Polystyrene material can be identified with the "6" symbol marked on the packaging.
What types of food packaging can be used?
Businesses may use any compostable materials or paper. Businesses may also access the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI), which is an online catalog of key individuals and groups from government, industry and academia, which promotes the use and recycling of biodegradable polymeric materials (via composting).
What will happen if my business does not comply with the ban?
Businesses found in violation will be issued a Code Violation and could face fines for failing to comply.
