Important Information Regarding the Upcoming CRA and City Commission Meetings on Wednesday, October 6th
There are a number of options for the public to view and participate in the upcoming CRA and Regular City Commission Meetings, including an in-person option.

There are two options for the public to provide comments on Agenda Items:
Register to provide comments virtually via the Webex Virtual Meeting App. You must be able to join the meeting virtually from an internet connected device with a web camera and microphone such as a personal computer, smart phone, or tablet. Those who register to provide comments virtually will receive the Webex meeting link by e-mail the day before the meeting. Register to provide in-person comments during the meeting (capacity limits and social distancing requirements apply).

The opportunity for public comments is available on all agenda items to be voted on by the Commission and under Citizen Comments. The opportunity for public comments is not available on Proclamations and Presentations.
Public comments are limited to 3 minutes per person and time cannot be transferred. All comments received during the submission period will become part of the public record. Comments left on voicemail machines, emailed, posted to the City or CRA social media accounts or submitted after stated deadlines will not be accepted. Registration to participate in the meeting virtually or in-person must be received by 12 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5th for the CRA Meeting and by 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5th for the City Commission Meeting.

Staff will direct the public to the designated seating area where they will be able to listen to the meeting. Once the meeting begins and maximum indoor capacity is reached, no other members of the public will be allowed in the designated seating area. The City Clerk will call out the names of those wishing to address the City Commission in-person, at which time they will approach the lectern and address the Commission members. In-person participants commenting on multiple items may return to the designated seating area and wait for their name to be called again.

Full Closure of Federal Highway/US-1 just south of Young CircleOctober 2nd - 6thFederal Highway/US-1 will be fully closed to vehicular traffic between Van Buren Street and Young Circle beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 2nd through Wednesday, October 6th. A full closure of Van Buren Street just east of US-1 will also be in place. The road closure will allow for the controlled demolition of the Bread Building.
Detours and message boards will be in-place routing motorists around the closure and construction zone. Those traveling north on US-1 will be directed to 21st Avenue and those traveling south on US-1 will be directed to Dixie Highway. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route to avoid delays. The tearing-down of the building is expected to take place continuously throughout all five days until the building has been completely demolished. Inclement weather and unforeseen utility conflicts may alter this planned construction schedule.

Full Closure of Harrison Street at Young Circle Through October 1stHarrison Street between S. 19th Avenue and Young Circle will be fully closed through Friday, October 1st. The closure will allow for the dismantling and removal of a large construction crane. Detours will be in place directing motorists around the work zone. Adjustments to this schedule may be made due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
SR 822/Sheridan Street Resurfacing, Restoration and Rehabilitation (RRR) ProjectOne lane in each direction along Sheridan Street from N 22nd Avenue to SR 5/US-1/Federal Highway will be closed, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for the removal of existing concrete, installation of new sidewalk and curb ramps, and installation of new pedestrian signalization. Additionally, one lane in each direction will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for thermal plastic and striping operations. Construction is expected to be completed in the fall. Southwest Broward Mobility Improvements Project One lane in each direction of N 56th Avenue from Pembroke Road to Douglas Street will be closed 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, for sidewalk construction, swale improvements, and asphalt placement. Detours might be implemented through adjacent roads if necessary, to improve safety. Flaggers will be present and detour signs will be in place to direct motorists around the work zone. Additionally, pedestrian signal improvements will take place at the intersections of S 56th Avenue/N 56th Avenue with Pembroke Road, Washington Street, Hollywood Boulevard, Johnson Street, Taft Street, Sheridan Street, and Stirling Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Workers will be present and lane closures will be place in the vicinity to direct motorists around the work zone. Work is underway through spring 2023.

REMINDER: Important Information about Your Utility RatesLast October a new three tiered utility rate structure for water and wastewater customers began that included an annual rate increase while encouraging water conservation. The annual rate adjustments are funding increasing operating costs and mandatory water and wastewater system upgrades to meet state and federal regulatory requirements. The three tier rate structure rewards customers who conserve water and creates an incentive for those who currently do not, thereby allowing customers greater control over their monthly bill. The charges for water increase as usage increases, so the more water a customer consumes, the higher the rate they are charged.
An average single family residential customer’s monthly water usage is 600 cubic feet (approximately 4,500 gallons). Effective your first utility bill in November, the average water customer can expect to pay $25.62, an increase of $0.30 a month. The average water and wastewater customer will pay $77.58, an increase of $0.87 a month. The new stormwater rate of $7.62 is an increase of $1.50 a month, based on the Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) Annual Price Index. As a reminder for seasonal customers who live here less than 12 months a year, a minimum monthly base rate is charged regardless of use. Sanitation Fee For Single Family Homes and Duplex Apartments
Effective tomorrow, October 1st, single family homes and duplexes who receive solid waste and recycling collection services from Waste Pro, USA will see a new monthly rate of $45.00 for twice-weekly garbage collection, weekly recycling and yard waste collections, monthly bulk collection, processing and disposal. Annual increases to the rate will be determined based on contractual obligations and program administrative costs. For more information please visit the City website.

Reinstatement of Disconnections for
Past Due Balances Begins Tomorrow, October 1st
Over one year ago, the City of Hollywood temporarily suspended its policy for service disconnections for past due balances. It was a way to help customers through a difficult economic time and to ensure water service was available for hand washing and other hygiene measures during the height of the pandemic. Customers were encouraged to stay current with their utility payments during this time if they were able, and to reach out for assistance in setting up a payment plan if they were not.
Disconnections and late penalties for past due utility balances will resume on October 1, 2021. ArtsPark Movie NightFriday, October 1st at 8 p.m.
Join your neighbors at ArtsPark Movie Night! This Friday, Antman & the Wasp (PG-13), will be featured on the big screen at the Amphitheater in downtown Hollywood. Showtime is at 8 p.m. and admission is free. Lawn seating available.

Dream Car Classic
Sunday, October 3rd at 10 a.m.Dozens of classic cars, trucks and other vehicles of interest will be featured from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the 1900 block of Hollywood Boulevard. There will be a special appearance by International Face Art artistic face painting and glitter tattoos! Admission is free and vehicle registration is $20. The Dream Car Classic takes place on the first Sunday of the month.

Indoor Public Access Suspended at City FacilitiesIn light of the spike in COVID-19 positive cases in South Florida and the elevated risk to public health, all City facilities, including City Hall and Community Centers, is closed to the general public for indoor activities and recreation. The closure will remain in effect until further notice. Customers are encouraged to use the many services offered online.
Outdoor Recreation:
Outdoor recreation facilities such as Driftwood Community Swimming Pool, Parks, Marina, Sports Fields, Playgrounds, Golf Courses, Tennis and Pickleball Courts, Skate Parks, and the ArtsPark at Young Circle remain open and outdoor events like the ArtsPark Friday Night Movie will continue.
Indoor Recreation:
The indoor art studios at the ArtsPark Gallery will be closed. All Community Centers will be closed and no inside activities will take place, with the exception of School Aftercare and Barry University Programs.

Solid Waste, Recycling, Bulk and Yard Waste Collection Routes Remain ImpactedWhile many Waste Pro USA crewmembers have returned to work having recovered from the recent surge of the delta variant, staffing levels continue to be impacted. Solid waste, recycling, bulk, and yard waste collection routes remain delayed. Crews continue to focus on garbage collections, followed by yard and bulk collections and recycling. If you find your cart was not emptied on your scheduled collection day, please leave it out an additional day for collection. Plastic and Foam Free Single-Use Plastics and Foam are Prohibited on Hollywood Beach, at City-Owned Parks and Facilities, and by City VendorsThe City of Hollywood is committed to reducing our environmental impact and becoming more sustainable. One step the City has taken in achieving this goal is to ban the use of nonbiodegradable containers, like plastics and expanded polystyrene foam (EPS), for serving food products.
If you're planning on going to the beach or park or attending an event or meeting at City Hall, a community center, park, ArtsPark at Young Circle, or other city facility, please don't bring plastic bottles, bags and other single-use plastics and foam containers.

Free COVID-19 Testing Site in West HollywoodThe Florida Department of Health in Broward County, in partnership with the City of Hollywood hosts a free COVID-19 Walk-Up Testing Site at the Boulevard Heights Community Center, 6770 Garfield Street in West Hollywood from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. This site is closed on Sundays and Mondays. No appointment is necessary, however if you would prefer to schedule an appointment, please call 954.412.7300.
