Hollywood Art Studio Awarded Marketing & Tech Services from Comcast RISE

Kyle Harris, owner of Harris Art studio in Hollywood, FL, started working as an artist as a second career after working in the cable industry for more than twenty years.

“Working as an artist and running my studio are my passion and I plan on doing this for the rest of my life,” said Harris. “The COVID-19 pandemic has been extremely difficult. But I am not done yet and I’m not dying – so I will continue to do what it takes to keep my business running. I am excited to see how the resources from my Comcast Business technology makeover will help me do that.”

Comcast RISE $10,000 Grant Opportunity
Application Deadline is Thursday, October 14

• 100 small businesses in each designated area.
• Each business will receive a $10,000 monetary grant.

Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses provides business management education, support services and access to capital for growth-oriented entrepreneurs. The program is underwritten by the Goldman Sachs Foundation and delivered in partnership with Miami-Dade College. 
 
Is Your Business Ready?
Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses looks for applicants who are passionate about growing their business and creating jobs in their community, and generally meet these criteria:

• Owner or co-owner of a business

• Business in operation for at least two years

• Business revenues of at least $75K in the most recent fiscal year

• Minimum of 2 employees (including the owner)

• Companies based in South Florida are encouraged to apply

Applications for consideration to participate in January 2022 are due by this Friday, October 15, 2021.

Work Skills Scholarship Program Graduation

The City of Hollywood graduated 12 students in its first Work Skills Scholarship Program cohort.  The City partnered with OIC of South Florida and offered training courses in Construction Operations and Warehouse & Logistics.  Both courses, held over 12 weeks, prepared participants for entry-level positions in the selected career path. The goal of the program is to advance work skills initiatives in the City’s low to moderate income neighborhoods. Congratulations to all of the graduates!
