SBA Celebrates National Disability Employment Awareness Month

Join the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for an online panel discussion with disabled-owned small businesses as they share their small business stories and how they utilized SBA economic aid to pivot during the pandemic. Learn more about SBA resources to help entrepreneurs compete in the marketplace, receive counseling, and launch or expand businesses. Also, learn more about disability inclusion and discovering untapped sources of talent.

Women's Small Biz

National Women’s Small Business Month takes place each year during the month of October. This is a time to recognize the myriad achievements of our country’s female entrepreneurs and the positive impact they are making on jobs and the economy.

A huge shout out to all our women-owned businesses in Broward that are certified in the County's Local Certification Program. Show Broward's women-owned businesses some love this month!

Paycheck Protection Program borrowers: If your loan is $150,000 or less, you may be eligible to apply for direct forgiveness through the SBA, using their online portal. Follow the steps below.

  1. Find out if your lender is participating. 
  2. Watch a video about how to use the portal.
  3. Apply for forgiveness.

Phishing attacks and scams have thrived since the COVID pandemic began and today, phishing attacks account for more than 80 percent of reported security incidents. During Cybersecurity Awareness Month pay close attention to emails, text messages or chat boxes that come from a stranger or someone you were not expecting. Think before you click on any suspicious emails, links or attachments and make sure to report any suspicious emails to your service provider and/or employer.
