CRA Board/City Commission Meeting

The City of Hollywood will be conducting a Community Redevelopment Board Meeting and Regular City Commission Meeting on Wednesday, December 1st at Hollywood City Hall, 2600 Hollywood Blvd Room 219 at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Citizens' Comments will be held at 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. respectively. The City has returned to in-person only comments with no registration required. Facial coverings are recommended for visitors and required for staff while inside City Hall. Following a temperature check upon entering City Hall, staff will direct the public to the designated seating area for the meeting.

City Commission Redistricting Meeting

Hollywood City Commission Redistricting Public Meetings

Florida Atlantic University will be presenting redistricting options for the City of Hollywood Commission districts (not congressional, state, or county districts) at two community meetings. The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 7th at 7:00 pm at the Driftwood Community Center, 3000 N 69th Avenue in west Hollywood. The second meeting will be held on Monday, December 13th at 7:00 pm at Hollywood City Hall, 2600 Hollywood Blvd, room 219. Options will be based upon information from 2020 census data, comments from Commission members and residents.

90-Day Appeal Period for FEMA Flood Maps Now Open

The 90-Day Appeal Period for the Preliminary Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Flood Zone Maps (dated 12/31/2019 and 02/25/2021) opened on Wednesday, November 24, 2021.

  • The Proposed Flood Hazard Determination Notice has been published and is available for viewing here. 
  • To view the latest FEMA Flood Zone Map, please visit the FEMA Flood Map Service Center website here.

During the appeal period, any scientific or technical data can be challenged as well as street names, typos or omissions by any community, agency or interested parties. If you have information that needs to be corrected, the opportunity to do so is now.

At the TEDx Young Circle Park event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group setting.

Thank you to all who participated in the first and second rounds of Marina Master Plan Public Input Sessions. Those sessions were very well attended and served as an important opportunity for the team to present concepts for a Marina Master Plan, and to hear from the public on what their suggestions, concerns and ideas were. The team heard you, and now the ideas gathered will be considered for inclusion in the proposed plan. If you missed the public sessions, there is still time to add your suggestions for the plan! About the Plan:
The Marina Master Plan will serve as a comprehensive guide for future in-water and landside capital improvement investment projects. The Plan will address public launching sites, dry slip parking, wet slip dockage, competitive docking feeds, ADA accessibility enhancements, traffic, public safety concerns, the public Right-of-Way, and a unified shoreline. Traffic Alert

Hallandale Beach Blvd. to Close at Railway Crossing West of I-95

December 1st – December 8th

The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) will close Hallandale Beach Boulevard at the railway crossing just west of I-95 beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, December 1st through Wednesday, December 8th at 6 p.m. If necessary to complete the scheduled work, this closure will extend to 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 9th.

The closure is part of the SFRTA Railway Grade Crossing Rehabilitation Project and will allow for crews to safely perform necessary repairs to the railway, including repairing rails and replacing the crossing surface.
Traffic detours will be in place directing motorist to the following:

Hallandale Beach Blvd Eastbound: Traffic that wants to head eastbound on Hallandale Beach Blvd (SR858), will be directed as follows:
• Traffic on Hallandale Beach Blvd eastbound will be directed to turn left (North) at USR7/US441
• At Pembroke Rd, traffic will be directed to turn right (East) to I-95
• At I-95, traffic will be directed to turn right (South)
• On I-95, traffic will be directed to exit right to Hallandale Beach Blvd (Exit 18)

Hallandale Beach Blvd Westbound: Traffic that wants to head westbound on Hallandale Beach Blvd (SR858), will be directed as follows:
• Traffic on Hallandale Beach Blvd westbound will be directed to turn right (North) at I-95 to Pembroke Rd Exit
• On I-95, traffic will be directed to exit right to Pembroke Rd (Exit 19)
• At Pembroke Rd, traffic will be directed to turn left (West) to USR7/US441
• At USR7/US441, traffic will be directed to turn left (South) to Hallandale Beach Blvd
I-95 Southbound

Traffic on I95 Southbound that wants to head westbound on Hallandale Beach Blvd (SR858), will be directed as follows:
• Traffic on Southbound I95 will be directed to exit at Pembroke Rd (Exit 19)
• At Pembroke Rd, traffic will be directed to turn right (West) to USR7/US441  At SR7/US441, traffic will be directed to turn left (South) to Hallandale Beach Blvd
I-95 Northbound

Traffic on I95 Northbound that wants to head westbound on Hallandale Beach Blvd (SR858), will be directed as follows:
• Traffic on Northbound I95 will be directed to exit at Pembroke Rd (Exit 19)
• At Pembroke Rd, traffic will be directed to turn left (West) to USR7/US441
• At SR7/US441, traffic will be directed to turn left (South) to Hallandale Beach Blvd

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek an alternative route to avoid anticipated traffic delays.

S. 20th Avenue & Alleyway Closure

From November 15th through December 3rd, S. 20th Avenue between Harrison Street and the Boulevard will be closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. One lane will be open to vehicular traffic from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. It is anticipated, after December 3rd, one lane will then remain open. Sidewalks will remain open during the construction period. This closure will allow for the installation of permeable concrete in the alleyway that runs parallel between Harrison Street and the Boulevard. The alleyway will be closed to the east and west of 20th Avenue for the duration of the construction project, which is expected to last for approximately 3 months.

Lane Closure on N. 35th Avenue at Johnson Street


Crews will be on-site at N. 35th Avenue just north of Johnson Street on Monday, December 13th from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. directing traffic around the lane closure. The closure will allow for the delivery of an MRI machine to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. 

N. 22nd Avenue between Johnson & Sheridan Streets

Contractors for Florida Power and Light, Concurrent, is closing N. 22nd Avenue at numerous locations to install new concrete poles in conjunction with their Citywide hardening project. The closures along N. 22nd Avenue have begun and continue for approximately two months. Various streets and alleys adjacent to the corridor where closures will be implemented will also be impacted. The construction schedule may be adjusted due to inclement weather.

Southwest Broward Mobility Improvements Project 

One lane in each direction of N 56th Avenue from Pembroke Road to Douglas Street will be closed 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, for sidewalk construction, swale improvements, and asphalt placement. Detours might be implemented through adjacent roads if necessary, to improve safety. Flaggers will be present and detour signs will be in place to direct motorists around the work zone. Additionally, pedestrian signal improvements will take place at the intersections of S 56th Avenue/N 56th Avenue with Pembroke Road, Washington Street, Hollywood Boulevard, Johnson Street, Taft Street, Sheridan Street, and Stirling Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Workers will be present and lane closures will be place in the vicinity to direct motorists around the work zone. Work is underway through spring 2023.

The holidays can be a very tough time for people facing food instability. Did you know:
  • There are 222,100 people in Broward County facing hunger issues and 66,810 of them are children
  • 51% of food bank assisted households eat food past the expiration date
  • 69% of food-insecure households choose between food and utilities
  • 63% of senior households are forced to choose between food and medical care
Consider making a food donation by dropping off a canned good, baby food or formula at an area collection box. Most needed items also include toiletries.

The City of Hollywood is committed to reducing our environmental impact and becoming more sustainable. One step the City has taken in achieving this goal is to ban the use of nonbiodegradable containers, like plastics and expanded polystyrene foam (EPS), for serving food products.

If you're planning on going to the beach or park or attending an event or meeting at City Hall, a community center, park, ArtsPark at Young Circle, or other city facility, please don't bring plastic bottles, bags and other single-use plastics and foam containers.

The City of Hollywood is providing an Eviction Prevention/Rental Assistance Program funded by the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for eligible Hollywood residents affected by the COVID-19 Health Crisis.

Vaccination Sites 

Several fixed vaccination sites are operating in Broward County offering the Pfizer vaccine to residents ages 12 and older. No appointment is required. No insurance necessary. Use the VACCINATION SITE LOCATOR to find a site near you.

Free COVID Testing

Free COVID-19 Testing Site in West Hollywood

The Florida Department of Health in Broward County, in partnership with the City of Hollywood hosts a free COVID-19 Walk-Up Testing Site at the Boulevard Heights Community Center, 6770 Garfield Street in West Hollywood from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. This site is closed on Sundays and Mondays. No appointment is necessary, however if you would prefer to schedule an appointment, please call 954.412.7300. Priority is given to school children and staff. Please be sure to wear a facial covering when arriving for testing.
