Hollywood City Commission Redistricting Public MeetingsFlorida Atlantic University will be presenting redistricting options for the City of Hollywood Commission districts (not congressional, state, or county districts) at two community meetings. The first meeting will be held today Tuesday, December 7th at 7 pm at the Driftwood Community Center, 3000 N 69th Avenue in west Hollywood. The second meeting will be held on Monday, December 13th at 7 pm at Hollywood City Hall, 2600 Hollywood Blvd, room 219. Options will be based upon information from 2020 census data, comments from Commission members and residents.

Project Opioid Broward Official Soft Launch - Via Zoom Friday, December 10th at 10:30 a.m.
While the COVID-19 pandemic dominated lives over the past year and a half, the opioid epidemic has been surging – exacerbated by the stress of job loss, threat of evictions and the consequences of stay-at-home policies. According to the Department of Health, in 2019, Fentanyl Overdoses increased by almost 52% in Broward County.
Please join the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance Foundation, in partnership with the Florida Blue Foundation and Project Opioid Florida as they officially launch Project Opioid Broward. The goal is to educate business, faith, and community leaders on how they can help save the greatest number of lives through building a coalition, creating a regional overdose initiative, and promoting high-level advocacy.

Hallandale Beach Blvd. Closed at Railway Crossing West of I-95Through December 8th The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) will close Hallandale Beach Boulevard at the railway crossing just west of I-95 beginning through Wednesday, December 8th at 6 p.m. If necessary to complete the scheduled work, this closure will extend to 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 9th.
The closure is part of the SFRTA Railway Grade Crossing Rehabilitation Project and will allow for crews to safely perform necessary repairs to the railway, including repairing rails and replacing the crossing surface. Traffic detours will be in place directing motorist to the following:
Hallandale Beach Blvd Eastbound: Traffic heading eastbound on Hallandale Beach Blvd (SR858) will be directed as follows:
• Traffic on Hallandale Beach Blvd eastbound will be directed to turn left (North) at USR7/US441 • At Pembroke Rd, traffic will be directed to turn right (East) to I-95 • At I-95, traffic will be directed to turn right (South) • On I-95, traffic will be directed to exit right to Hallandale Beach Blvd (Exit 18)
Hallandale Beach Blvd Westbound: Traffic heading westbound on Hallandale Beach Blvd (SR858) will be directed as follows:

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek an alternative route to avoid anticipated traffic delays.
S. 20th Avenue & Alleyway ClosureOne lane is closed on S. 20th Avenue between Harrison Street and the Boulevard from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sidewalks will remain open during the construction period. This closure will allow for the installation of permeable concrete in the alleyway that runs parallel between Harrison Street and the Boulevard. The alleyway will be closed to the east and west of 20th Avenue for the duration of the construction project, which is expected to last for approximately 3 months.N. 56th Avenue Closure from Sheridan Street to Stirling Road N 56th Avenue, between Sheridan Street and Stirling Road will be closed to traffic beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 12th through 6:00 a.m. on Monday, December 13th for paving operations. To minimize impact to motorists, only one direction will be closed at a time. During the southbound closure, traffic will be detoured via SR-7/US 441. During the northbound closure, traffic will be detoured via N 46th Avenue. Access will be maintained to local residents, at all times.
PROJECT IMPROVEMENTS: This work is a part of the Southwest Broward Mobility Improvements Project, and is being done in partnership with the Broward MPO. Project improvements include widening the roadway to accommodate 7-foot buffered bicycle lanes and adding sidewalks to create a continuous facility in each direction of SW 56th Avenue; adding shared lane pavement markings in each direction along SW 62nd Avenue and North 64th Avenue to enhance the safe travel of bicycles and motor vehicles in the same traffic lane; and adding sidewalks to create a continuous facility in each direction of SW 62nd Avenue.
Lane Closure on N. 35th Avenue at Johnson StreetCrews will be on-site at N. 35th Avenue just north of Johnson Street on Monday, December 13th from 7 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. directing traffic around the lane closure. The closure will allow for the delivery of an MRI machine to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital.
N. 22nd Avenue between Johnson & Sheridan StreetsContractors for Florida Power and Light, Concurrent, is closing N. 22nd Avenue at numerous locations to install new concrete poles in conjunction with their Citywide hardening project. The closures along N. 22nd Avenue have begun and continue for approximately two months. Various streets and alleys adjacent to the corridor where closures will be implemented will also be impacted. The construction schedule may be adjusted due to inclement weather.
Southwest Broward Mobility Improvements Project One lane in each direction of N 56th Avenue from Pembroke Road to Douglas Street will be closed 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, for sidewalk construction, swale improvements, and asphalt placement. Detours might be implemented through adjacent roads if necessary, to improve safety. Flaggers will be present and detour signs will be in place to direct motorists around the work zone. Additionally, pedestrian signal improvements will take place at the intersections of S 56th Avenue/N 56th Avenue with Pembroke Road, Washington Street, Hollywood Boulevard, Johnson Street, Taft Street, Sheridan Street, and Stirling Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Workers will be present and lane closures will be place in the vicinity to direct motorists around the work zone. Work is underway through spring 2023.

REMINDER: Important Information about Your Utility RatesEffective your first utility bill in November, the average water customer can expect to pay $25.62, an increase of $0.30 a month. The average water and wastewater customer will pay $77.58, an increase of $0.87 a month. The new stormwater rate of $7.62 is an increase of $1.50 a month, based on the Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) Annual Price Index. As a reminder for seasonal customers who live here less than 12 months a year, a minimum monthly base rate is charged regardless of use. Sanitation Fee For Single Family Homes and Duplex Apartments
Effective October 1st, single family homes and duplexes who receive solid waste and recycling collection services from Waste Pro, USA saw a new monthly rate of $45 for twice-weekly garbage collection, weekly recycling and yard waste collections, monthly bulk collection, processing and disposal.
