Free Rapid PCR Testing Indoor COVID-19 Testing Site at David Park Community Center

Starting tomorrow, December 15th


The COVID-19 Walk-Up Testing Site at the David Park Community Center, 108 N 33rd Court in East Hollywood is transitioning to a Rapid PCR test starting tomorrow. Testing will take place Sunday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and results will be delivered same-day.

Visit cur.tv/hollywood to schedule an appointment. On-site registration is also available.

What Do I Need To Know Before Getting Tested?

  1. The rapid PCR test is self-collected. A healthcare worker wearing personal protective equipment will guide you through the testing process step by step.

  2. Rapid PCR testing is currently restricted to patients 5 years of age or older.

  3. Testing is available for asymptomatic and symptomatic patients.

  4. There is no out-of-pocket cost for the test and it is available for both insured and uninsured; insured must provide insurance information.

  5. Please bring your ID and insurance card (if applicable) to the site to receive your test. If you made an appointment, bring your appointment confirmation number/QR code with you.

  6. Walk-ins/On-site registration is available for patients without appointments.

  7. Test results are delivered electronically via text or email.

Free COVID-19 Testing Site in West Hollywood

The Florida Department of Health in Broward County, in partnership with the City of Hollywood hosts a free COVID-19 Walk-Up Testing Site at the Boulevard Heights Community Center, 6770 Garfield Street in West Hollywood from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. This site is closed on Sundays and Mondays. No appointment is necessary, however if you would prefer to schedule an appointment, please call 954.412.7300. Priority is given to school children and staff. Please be sure to wear a facial covering when arriving for testing.

Downtown Hollywood offers on-street metered parking for $1.50 per hour, as well as municipal garage parking for $1 per hour. Alleyway Collections Resume Royal Poinciana Neighborhood

Solid Waste & Recycling Collections Moving Back to Alleyway Pickup in Royal Poinciana Neighborhood

As the Royal Poinciana Utility Improvement Project comes to an end, the need for curbside collection in this neighborhood is no longer required.

Beginning on Monday, December 20th, all solid waste and recycling collections will transition back to being collected from the alleyway. Customers will need to place garbage and recycle carts, yard waste and bulk waste in the alleyway behind their property beginning December 20th.

The Department of Public Utilities thanks customers for their cooperation and patience throughout the entirety of this necessary project. For additional questions regarding solid waste or recycling, services, please contact the Department of Public Works at 954.967.4526.

Traffic Alert

S. 20th Avenue & Alleyway Closure

One lane is closed on S. 20th Avenue between Harrison Street and the Boulevard from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sidewalks will remain open during the construction period. This closure will allow for the installation of permeable concrete in the alleyway that runs parallel between Harrison Street and the Boulevard. The alleyway will be closed to the east and west of 20th Avenue for the duration of the construction project, which is expected to last for approximately 3 months.

N. 22nd Avenue between Johnson & Sheridan Streets

Contractors for Florida Power and Light, Concurrent, is closing N. 22nd Avenue at numerous locations to install new concrete poles in conjunction with their Citywide hardening project. The closures along N. 22nd Avenue have begun and continue for approximately two months. Various streets and alleys adjacent to the corridor where closures will be implemented will also be impacted. The construction schedule may be adjusted due to inclement weather.

Southwest Broward Mobility Improvements Project 

One lane in each direction of N 56th Avenue from Pembroke Road to Douglas Street will be closed 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, for sidewalk construction, swale improvements, and asphalt placement. Detours might be implemented through adjacent roads if necessary, to improve safety. Flaggers will be present and detour signs will be in place to direct motorists around the work zone. Additionally, pedestrian signal improvements will take place at the intersections of S 56th Avenue/N 56th Avenue with Pembroke Road, Washington Street, Hollywood Boulevard, Johnson Street, Taft Street, Sheridan Street, and Stirling Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Workers will be present and lane closures will be place in the vicinity to direct motorists around the work zone. Work is underway through spring 2023.

90-Day Appeal Period for FEMA Flood Maps Now Open

The 90-Day Appeal Period for the Preliminary Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Flood Zone Maps (dated 12/31/2019 and 02/25/2021) opened on November 24th.

  • The Proposed Flood Hazard Determination Notice has been published and is available for viewing here. 
  • To view the latest FEMA Flood Zone Map, please visit the FEMA Flood Map Service Center website here.

During the appeal period, any scientific or technical data can be challenged as well as street names, typos or omissions by any community, agency or interested parties. If you have information that needs to be corrected, the opportunity to do so is now.

The holidays can be a very tough time for people facing food instability. Did you know:
  • There are 222,100 people in Broward County facing hunger issues and 66,810 of them are children
  • 51% of food bank assisted households eat food past the expiration date
  • 69% of food-insecure households choose between food and utilities
  • 63% of senior households are forced to choose between food and medical care
Consider making a food donation by dropping off a canned good, baby food or formula at an area collection box. Most needed items also include toiletries.

Important Reminder

REMINDER: Important Information about Your Utility Rates

Effective your first utility bill in November, the average water customer can expect to pay $25.62, an increase of $0.30 a month. The average water and wastewater customer will pay $77.58, an increase of $0.87 a month.  The new stormwater rate of $7.62 is an increase of $1.50 a month, based on the Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) Annual Price Index. As a reminder for seasonal customers who live here less than 12 months a year, a minimum monthly base rate is charged regardless of use. Sanitation Fee For Single Family Homes and Duplex Apartments
Effective October 1st, single family homes and duplexes who receive solid waste and recycling collection services from Waste Pro, USA saw a new monthly rate of $45 for twice-weekly garbage collection, weekly recycling and yard waste collections, monthly bulk collection, processing and disposal. Annual increases to the rate will be determined based on contractual obligations and program administrative costs. For more information please visit the City website.

Single-Use Plastics and Foam are Prohibited on Hollywood Beach, at City-Owned Parks and Facilities, and by City Vendors

The City of Hollywood is committed to reducing our environmental impact and becoming more sustainable. One step the City has taken in achieving this goal is to ban the use of nonbiodegradable containers, like plastics and expanded polystyrene foam (EPS), for serving food products.

If you're planning on going to the beach or park or attending an event or meeting at City Hall, a community center, park, ArtsPark at Young Circle, or other city facility, please don't bring plastic bottles, bags and other single-use plastics and foam containers.
