Broward Commuter Rail Public Workshops The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Four and Broward County will be hosting 3 "Alternatives Public Workshops" for the Broward Commuter Rail (BCR) Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Study, which runs from Deerfield Beach to Hollywood, including six stations, a new crossing over the New River, and a connection to the Miami Central Station.
A PD&E study is FDOT’s process to evaluate the social, economic, and environmental benefits and impacts associated with a planned transportation improvement project. The objective of the BCR PD&E Study is to develop and analyze alternatives that integrate passenger rail and freight rail service along the Florida East Coast (FEC) Railway. The project team is planning to present a recommendation to the Broward County Commission of a Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA) in the spring, which will identify the general station locations and the recommended alternative for the crossing of the New River. January Operation Paintbrush Paint Distribution Event - POSTPONEDThe City's supply of recycled paint for the January event has NOT been secured from Broward County. Due to the lack of supply, the January event has been postponed. The City is targeting Saturday, February 12, 2022 as a POSSIBLE date for the next event. Please continue to check the event calendar on the home page of the City's website event calendar for the latest event information.
As you may already know, the paint that is distributed at Operation Paintbrush comes from paint that has been dropped off at a County collection site. Broward County residents who no longer have a need for their leftover paint drop it off with the County who then recycles it. Once recycled, the County distributes a portion of the supply to each participating municipality. The Operation Paintbrush Program relies solely on paint donations from residents.
About Operation Paintbrush: The Operation Paintbrush Program is a very popular initiative in Hollywood. Up to 20 gallons of recycled exterior latex paint is available, free of charge, to single-family homeowners. Paint is distributed on a first come, first served basis, while the supply lasts on distribution day. To participate, you must provide your current driver’s license with Hollywood address and a current utility bill as proof of Hollywood residency. Paint colors typically offered are off white, beige, terracotta, gray, and turquoise.
