The Utility Billing Payment System will be shut down for routine maintenance today, March 31st at 4 p.m. until Friday, April 1st at 8 a.m. During this period, payments will not be accepted via the web or by phone, but customers will still have access to their online utility account. Join your neighbors at ArtsPark Movie Night! This Friday, Spirit Untamed (PG), will be featured on the big screen at the Amphitheater in Downtown Hollywood. Showtime is at 8 p.m. and admission is free. Lawn seating is available.

Saturday, April 2nd

The Hollywood Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is hosting a CPR training class on Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fred Lippman Multi-Purpose Center, 2030 Polk Street in downtown Hollywood. The cost of the training is $25 cash, per person, to be given to the instructor the day of the class. The fee includes the cost of the two-year CPR certification card. Interested residents should email eoc@hollywoodfl.org as soon as possible. Class will be capped at 30 students.

Sunday, April 3rd at 10 a.m.
Dozens of classic cars, trucks and other vehicles of interest will be featured from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the 1900 block of Hollywood Boulevard. Admission is free and vehicle registration is $20. The Dream Car Classic takes place on the first Sunday of the month.

Rent a Paddleboard on Hollywood Beach! New Rental Kiosk Locations 

Paddleboarding has experienced a surge in popularity in recent years. The family-friendly activity is easy for anyone of any skill level to enjoy. Exploring Hollywood via paddleboard is no longer just for those with their own equipment. The City is pleased to announce a new partnership with “PADL,” a paddleboard equipment rental operation that offers hourly rentals and monthly memberships. Visitors to the beach may now access the self-service “PADL” kiosks available for public use on Hollywood Beach.

PADL rental kiosks locations on Hollywood Beach include:

  • New Hampshire Street in the North Beach area
  • Keating Park, 2500 S. Ocean Drive in the South Beach area
  • COMING SOON: Charnow Park, 300 Connecticut Street in the Central Beach area


PADL Rental Fees are as follows:

  • $19 per hour for non-members
  • $24.99 monthly membership or $99.99 for a 6 month membership
  • Members receive 2 hours free every day. Additional hours and boards are $10 per hour


Paddlecraft Hours of Operation on Hollywood Beach:

  • Paddlecraft are allowed to utilize the entire length of the the municipal beach before 10 a.m. and after 5 p.m.
  • Paddlecraft are allowed at all hours south of Madison Street (The Keating Park kiosk is located south of Madison Street)
  • Paddlecraft are allowed at all hours north of Liberty Street.(The New Hampshire Street kiosk is located north of Liberty Street) 
  • In the Central Beach area, south of Liberty Street and north of Madison Street, paddlecraft must remain 100 yards from shore during the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 5 p.m. (The kiosk at Charnow Park is set to comply with the rules set forth in City Ordinance 99.02.)

With a swipe of the App, the board and paddle with personal flotation device are released and off you go on your adventure. The IOS + Android Mobile App also provides a map of PADL locations across the state, links to meetup groups, tour and lesson booking, shopping and more. This exhibition will also honor a DECADE of Hollywood Academy of Arts & Science winning the U.S. Nationals and 12th year of winning the State of Florida.  Mayor Josh Levy and Vice Mayor Caryl Shuham will join the Florida Department of Health and the American Lung Association to recognize and award the national and state of Florida winning Radon Awareness competition students. National winner will receive a $1,000 award, and state winners will receive crystal awards.  

We are also expecting very special guests from Charter Schools USA, Jon Hage, David Christensen, Eddie Ruiz and Rachel Windler-Freitag to honor our students, HAAS Families and our Hollywood community.

Beach Sweep is Back

Saturday, April 9th

The City of Hollywood is pleased to announce the return of the monthly Hollywood Beach Sweep, where volunteers gather every second Saturday of the month to collect litter and cigarette butts from the sandy beach.  


Hollywood Beach Sweep Clean-Up returns on Saturday, April 9th from 7 – 11 a.m. Volunteers meet at Charnow Park at Garfield Street and the Broadwalk, at 7 a.m. Volunteers are asked to complete the registration form available on the City’s website and children, ages 8 and older are welcome to participate when accompanied by an adult. Gloves and garbage bags will be provided to all volunteers along with safety instructions. Please dress appropriately, wear sunscreen and bring your completed registration form with you.

Please note: Parking passes will not be issued at the event. Vehicle information must be added to the registration system at least three days before the event.

Hop along the bunny trail to the Annual Spring Marshmallow Drop on Sunday, April 10th from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Boulevard Heights Community Center, 6770 Garfield Street. This fun-filled family event for children ages 10 and under features a helicopter flyover releasing 30,000 marshmallows onto a field for kids to collect and trade for prizes, a traditional spring egg hunt for younger children, a bounce house, children's activities and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs)
If you accidentally break a fluorescent bulb or tube, safely dispose of it by following EPA guidelines for Cleanup and Disposal of broken CFL's.

Medication Disposal
Do not dispose of prescription medications by flushing them down a toilet or drain, as this will contaminate our water system. For information about local medication disposal, call 954.831.8902 or visit the Broward Sheriff's Office website. 

Sharps (Needle) Disposal
Sharps are considered biohazardous waste and should never be thrown directly into the trash. For information about their safe disposal and a list of sites accepting sharps, visit Florida Health Department.

Rechargeable Batteries
Cell phones, remote control toys, laptops and power tools are just a few household items that use rechargeable batteries, which contain cadmium or lithium, both of which are considered toxic heavy metals. It is illegal to dispose of rechargeable batteries in regular trash. Visit Call2Recycle.org for a list of drop-off sites.

Common household alkaline batteries no longer contain mercury and are safe to dispose of in your regular garbage.

SPARK aims to bridge the gap between investors, businesses, and entrepreneurs. SPARK Hollywood events are designed to support and grow entrepreneurship in our City. Finalists will present the day of the SPARK Pitch Competition in person on May 26.

Alleyway collections resume in Parkside Neighborhood

Solid Waste & Recycling Collections Back to Alleyway Pickup in Parkside Neighborhood


As the Parkside Utility Improvement Project comes to an end, the need for curbside collection in this neighborhood is no longer required. All solid waste and recycling collections are now being collected from the alleyway. Customers will need to place garbage and recycle carts, yard waste and bulk waste in the alleyway behind their property. 

The Department of Public Utilities thanks customers for their cooperation and patience throughout the entirety of this necessary project. For additional questions regarding solid waste or recycling, please contact the Department of Public Works at 954.967.4526.

Curbside collections

Curbside Collections for Select Properties on McKinley and Cleveland Streets

Due to an alley closure between McKinley Street and Cleveland Street from N 50th Avenue and Emerson Drive, effective immediately the 19 property owners within this specific area must place their garbage and recycling bins, as well as bulk and yard waste, curbside at the front of their property for collection until further notice. Surveying Taking Place for Sewer Extension Project – N. Park Rd. to 40th Ave. & Wilson St. to Arthur St.


The City of Hollywood is expanding its municipal sewer collection system within the limits of the designated area indicated above. To help facilitate this process, survey information will need to be collected from each property within this designated area. Information to be collected during the survey includes identifying the location of an existing septic tank, and sanitary sewer cleanout(s). This service will be provided at no cost to the property owner. Access to the inside of your home is not required, and survey crews will only need access to the exterior of your property around the outside of your home.

The City of Hollywood is under contract with EAC Consulting Inc. and Gibbs Land Surveyors to collect this necessary information. We ask for your cooperation by allowing authorized personnel from Gibbs Land Surveyors and EAC Consulting, Inc. access to the exterior of your property. Upon request, crews will provide identification prior to entering private property.

Hallandale Beach Blvd. Temporary Full Closure April 23rd - 25th


The Florida East Coast Railway (FEC) is scheduled to perform maintenance work to the railroad crossing located on Hallandale Beach Boulevard, just east of Dixie Highway. Hallandale Beach Boulevard will be closed to traffic in both directions starting on Saturday, April 23rd at 6:00 p.m. The roadway will be close through Monday, April 25th at 11:59 p.m. Detours will be in place to reroute traffic around the maintenance zone. Motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route to avoid delays and expected traffic congestion.

Use Caution on Where You Test & Vaccinate for COVID-19

From roadside tents to empty store fronts, testing and vaccination sites are found across South Florida. Residents are urged to use caution as many of these locations are charging everyone for testing and service fees, not returning results, or are requiring social security numbers.  

Residents are encouraged to use sites hosted by Broward County or a municipality, hospitals, or urgent care clinics for COVID-19 testing and vaccinations. These sites are staffed with licensed personnel who can provide expert admissions of testing and vaccinations. They also guaranteed to provide your results as quickly as possible, at no cost to patients with insurance. If you have any questions, you should consult your primary care physician.

The City of Hollywood is committed to reducing our environmental impact and becoming more sustainable. One step the City has taken in achieving this goal is to ban the use of nonbiodegradable containers, like plastics and expanded polystyrene foam (EPS), for serving food products.

If you're planning on going to the beach or park or attending an event or meeting at City Hall, a community center, park, ArtsPark at Young Circle, or other city facility, please don't bring plastic bottles, bags and other single-use plastics and foam containers.
