Flood Watch Extended Through WednesdayThe National Weather Service (NWS) has placed the Hollywood area under a Flood Watch through Wednesday evening. The NWS is forecasting the possibility of heavy rain for the South Florida area including Hollywood. Due to its low elevation as a coastal city, many areas of Hollywood are prone to flooding. Currently, the risk of flooding is elevated due to ground saturation from the heavy rains that occurred this past weekend with some areas of the City getting more than 14 inches of rainfall on Friday and Saturday.
The NWS warns the impact of the forecasted rain could lead to extensive street flooding with storm drains and ditches becoming clogged with debris. City of Hollywood crews have been out preparing for additional rain, checking pumps and continuing to clear storm drains. Residents who are able can assist by ensuring storm drains near their homes are cleared of debris. The public is reminded to avoid areas with standing water due to contaminants and other hazards. Children and pets should not be allowed to wade or play in standing water. Sign Up for the Emergency Notification SystemThe City of Hollywood has launched a new emergency notification system called Alert Hollywood. Used by many government agencies throughout Florida, Alert Hollywood notifies residents through phone calls, e-mails and/or text messages to mobile phones of an emergency in the community such as a hurricane watch or warning, flash flood warning, tornado warning, serious police situations and other critical incidents.
Visit the City's website to access the Alert Hollywood registration page. On the registration page, click on the "Sign Up" link located just below the login fields. After you submit your information, you will receive Alert Hollywood notifications whenever an alert is issued. Alerts may be received by phone and/or email address. Severe weather alerts issued by the National Weather Service are automatically issued through the Alert Hollywood system if you elect to receive those notifications. The Alert Hollywood service is free to the public. Text message fees by your wireless carrier may apply depending on your mobile phone plan.

Broward County Transportation Surtax Rehabilitation and Maintenance (R&M) Projects Set to Begin in Hollywood
Beginning in early June and continuing for 7-8 months, multiple paving and resurfacing roadway projects are set to begin in the City. Planned roadway construction will include:
- Pavement Milling - Repaving - Drainage Repairs - New Sidewalk Installations - ADA Cross Ramp Installations (where needed) - Pavement Restriping
Roadway construction is set to take place at the following locations:
- North 58th Avenue between Johnson Street and Sheridan Street - Liberty Street between North Park Road (N. 33rd. Avenue) and N. 31st Avenue - North Park Road from Sheridan Street to Oak Drive - North 26th Avenue from Taft Street to Sheridan Street - West Park Road from North Park Road to North 40th Avenue - Raleigh Street from North Park Road to North 38th Avenue - Sarazen Drive from North 35th Street to North 46th Avenue

Temporary Park Closures for GOB Project ImprovementsConstruction is underway at several Hollywood parks as part of the voter-approved General Obligation Bond. Construction is underway to replace the playground equipment, safety surfacing, shade covers, swing set/turf and ancillary park equipment. The playground will be closed for the duration of the project.

The PAL game field is currently closed for Bermuda grass renovation.
Cathy & Bob Anderson Park The playground has reopened. The basketball court is closed for court resurfacing.

Temporary Roadway and Sidewalk Closures on Johnson Street from I-95 to East End of Sunset Golf CourseCity of Hollywood contractor MBR Construction is completing a new concrete sidewalk installation along the north side of Johnson Street in this area. There will be closures to vehicular and pedestrian traffic, therefore it is recommended to seek an alternate route during construction. In general, the workers will be on-site between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. They will reopen the travel lane when they finish work every day at approximately 4 p.m., but the sidewalk will remain closed at all times until the project has been completed by approximately mid-June.
FDOT Sheridan Street Bridge Rehabilitation Project Full Bridge Closure along over the Intracoastal Waterway to Begin Monday, June 13The SR 822/Sheridan Street Bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway will be fully for closed for approximately 90 days beginning Monday, June 13, weather and unforeseen conditions permitting. Eastbound traffic will be detoured via US-1, Hollywood Boulevard, or Dania Beach Boulevard. Westbound traffic will be detoured via SR A1A, Hollywood Boulevard, or Dania Beach Boulevard. Access to local traffic and the Anne Kolb Nature Center will be maintained at all times via eastbound SR 822/ Sheridan Street before the bridge. Project updates will be provided as needed.
Project improvements include installing bicycle-friendly/anti-slip walking plates along the bridge’s moveable spans, removing existing curb and adding a 32-inch traffic barrier between the sidewalk and roadway, removing and replacing the outer pedestrian railing, adding new pedestrian gates in each direction, renovating the existing tender house, upgrading electrical and mechanical components, and access platforms on the bridge.

One Lane Closed on Sheridan Street Turnpike Overpass For Emergency Repair
Drivers are encouraged to seek an alternate route
One eastbound lane on the Sheridan Street Turnpike Overpass in the City of Hollywood is closed to vehicular traffic due to a truck that hit the underside of the overpass causing significant damage to the structure. The truck was carrying heavy construction equipment while traveling northbound on the Florida Turnpike. One eastbound lane remains open and the westbound lanes are not affected.
Broward County and the Florida Department of Transportation are working together to evaluate and repair the damage.
The County is helping to reduce traffic congestion in that area by synchronizing the traffic lights to maximize the flow of traffic. Drivers are encouraged to seek an alternate route until repairs are completed.
Roadway and Lane Closures Planned for SW 30th Avenue under I-595.Temporary roadway and lane closures are planned for SW 30th Avenue under I-595 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday, June 5th through Friday, July 1st. The temporary closure will allow for Highway contractors, to remove construction material from Pier 35 to Pier 36 on the 1-595 Bridge, underneath 30th Avenue. Detours will be in place to direct motorists around the construction crews. Motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route to avoid delays.

The City of Hollywood Department of Public Utilities will begin its Annual Free Chlorine Line Flushing Program on July 11th. The free chlorine portion of this program will end August 15th. The water distribution system line flushing may continue across the city for an additional two weeks to achieve optimal system maintenance through August 25th if necessary.
The Annual Flushing Program is used to help rid the water distribution pipelines of any accumulated sediments. The hydrant flushing may temporarily cause cloudy or discolored water, which should settle and clear in a few hours after flushing. The cloudiness is due to the sediments in the pipelines and it is not harmful or hazardous.
Typically, flushing will take place in the evening hours between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. when the demand for water is low. During the water line flushing period, the Water Treatment Plant will temporarily change its method of disinfection from chloramines to free chlorination. Residents may notice a change in the taste and odor of the water during this time.
PLEASE NOTE: The city will discontinue Free Chlorination as of August 15. Owners and managers of businesses with fish and shellfish holding tanks and users of kidney dialysis machines are advised that regular methods for testing and removing free chlorine will not be effective during the remainder of the flushing period. It will be necessary to test and adjust for chloramines after August 15th.

Homeowners Assistance Funding AvailableThe Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF) was established under Section 3206 of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 and provides more than $676 million in financial assistance to Florida through the United States Department of the Treasury. The state of Florida submitted its HAF plan to the Treasury on August 20, 2021, the program plan was approved on February 09, 2022.

Eligible Homeowners
• Must have experienced a financial hardship after, or that continued after, January 21, 2020. • Must be a Florida homeowner and requesting assistance for their primary residence.
Per U.S. Treasury Guidelines, priority is given to Florida’s most vulnerable homeowners who are defined by the following criteria:
- The annual household income is less than or equal to 100% of the Area Median Income (AMI) (or 100% of the U.S. AMI, whichever is greater); and
- The eligible property is in a census tract with a median income that is less than or equal to the U.S. AMI; and
- The applicant is a Socially Disadvantaged Individual, or the eligible property is in a Florida economically distressed rural county or city.
Registration/Application- Homeowners can visit Homeowner Assistance Fund - FloridaJobs.org to complete the first step in determining their eligibility.
- Registration will take 5-10 minutes to complete, and no documentation is required. After registering, the homeowner will receive an email with a confirmation number.
- Potentially eligible homeowners will be invited by prioritization to complete an application. The application can be completed online or at a Customer Assistance Center (locations TBD). The confirmation number received during registration will serve as the reference number for the application.
Required Documentation At a minimum, applicants will need to provide a U.S.-issued government photo identification. Additional documentation, including, but not limited to: mortgage statement(s), utility statement(s), property tax statement(s), homeowner insurance statement(s), homeowner association statement(s), and internet service statement(s), will be required based on the type of assistance requested.
Payment Process DEO will disburse HAF financial assistance directly to mortgage lenders/servicers, land contract holders, manufactured/mobile home lenders, local taxing authorities, property and flood insurance carriers, utility service providers, and internet/broadband service providers. Once a homeowner completes a program application, provides the required documentation, and is approved for the program, the funds will be disbursed to the appropriate party.

Surveying Taking Place for Sewer Extension Project – N. Park Rd. to 40th Ave. & Wilson St. to Arthur St.
The City of Hollywood is expanding its municipal sewer collection system within the limits of the designated area indicated above. To help facilitate this process, survey information will need to be collected from each property within this designated area. Information to be collected during the survey includes identifying the location of an existing septic tank, and sanitary sewer cleanout(s). This service will be provided at no cost to the property owner. Access to the inside of your home is not required, and survey crews will only need access to the exterior of your property around the outside of your home.
The City of Hollywood is under contract with EAC Consulting Inc. and Gibbs Land Surveyors to collect this necessary information. We ask for your cooperation by allowing authorized personnel from Gibbs Land Surveyors and EAC Consulting, Inc. access to the exterior of your property. Upon request, crews will provide identification prior to entering private property.
