Deadline Extended to 7/13! 
Work Skills Training Scholarships Available For Eligible Hollywood Residents


The City of Hollywood, in partnership with OIC of South Florida, is offering Work Skills Training Scholarships to eligible Hollywood residents. The 11-week course provides FREE in-depth vocational training, preparing participants for entry-level positions on their career path. Courses will be held on Saturdays through the months of July 16  to September 24, from 9am-4pm at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center located at 2400 Charleston Street, Hollywood FL, 33020.  

CONSTRUCTION OPERATION & WAREHOUSE LOGISTICS  * Saturdays* 9am-4pm 
Upon completion of the course, potential positions and salaries include:

Hand Laborer & Material Mover 
Packing Specialist 
Shipping & Receiving Clerk 

Only those applicants residing within the City's low to moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods may participate in the Work Skills Training Scholarship Program. All submitted applications will go through an address verification process to ensure that participants meet this program requirement. Participants must also self-certify household income and provide proof of their U.S. Citizen or legal resident status.

Paycheck Protection Program borrowers: If your loan is $150,000 or less, you may be eligible to apply for direct forgiveness through the SBA, using their online portal. Follow the steps below. 1. Find out if your lender is participating. 2. Watch a video about how to use the portal. 3. Apply for forgiveness.

Workshop objectives include: Awareness of the various employment regulations and understand how to apply them for your business. Determining the laws with which you must comply based on # of employees. Identify what errors or omissions you might be making with employee on-boarding procedures. Understand Title VII discrimination and learn procedures and tools to mitigate the risk of litigation.
