Friday Night Movie at ArtsParkFriday, October 14th Bring the kids to the ArtsPark at Young Circle in downtown Hollywood on Friday night for some free fun! The ArtsPark venue includes open green space, a playground, SplashPad, and a Visual Arts Pavilion that hosts live glass blowing demonstrations. The free movie begins at 8 p.m. at the Amphitheater. This week's feature is "Hocus Pocus" (PG).
As a reminder, this venue is plastic and foam-free. Single-use plastics and Styrofoam containers are prohibited at the ArtsPark, including plastic bottles and bags.

8th Annual Mayor’s Chess ChallengeSaturday, October 15thThe annual Chess Challenge with Hollywood Mayor Josh Levy is taking place this Saturday, October 15th, from 9 to 11 a.m. at David Park Community Center at 108 N. 33rd Court in Hollywood. This free, friendly chess series, spearheaded by Sunrise Mayor Michael J. Ryan, is held in cooperation with Mayors from throughout Broward County and draws attention to the benefits of chess in both the academic environment and in our community.
Players receive a Mayors' Chess Challenge Passport at the first challenge, so they can log their participation over the course of the school year. Those with perfect attendance will receive a prize at the end of the season. Each Mayors' Chess Challenge event provides an opportunity for players of all ages, novices and experts alike, to join in the fun with elected officials and community leaders. Instructors from the Sunrise Center for Excellence in Chess will be on hand to provide free help to those new to the game. All are encouraged to attend to root on the participants.

Regular City Commission MeetingWednesday, October 19th at 1 p.m.The City of Hollywood will be conducting a City Commission Meeting on Wednesday, October 19th at City Hall, 2600 Hollywood Blvd Room 219. The City Commission Meeting will be held at 1 p.m. with Citizens' Comments at 5 p.m. The City offers in-person comments for Agenda Items, other than Presentations and Proclamations, with no registration required. An option to offer a public comment via telephone is available for the Citizens' Comments Agenda Item. Registration is required to participate via telephone. Please register here. Hollywood Police Officer Yandy Chirino Memorial Dedication and Celebration of LifeSunday, October 23rd from 12 - 2 p.m.Join the Hollywood Police Department for a Memorial Dedication and Celebration of Life for Fallen Police Officer Yandy Chirino. The official ceremony will begin at noon at Mara Berman Giulianti Park, 4151 N. Hills Drive in west Hollywood. A memorial marker now stands at the southeast entry of the park. The memorial includes an interactive feature that directs visitors to an online video where they can learn more about Officer Chirino and his selfless dedication to the residents of Hollywood. The playground at the park has been renamed in his honor and now features a new “Officer Yandy Chirino Playground” sign. Following the official ceremony until 2 p.m., there will be food trucks, bounce houses, slides, and different HPD vehicles for the community to enjoy.

Rent a Paddleboard on Hollywood Beach PADL rental kiosks locations on Hollywood Beach include: PADL Rental Fees are as follows: - $19 per hour for non-members
- $24.99 monthly membership or $99.99 for a 6 month membership
- Members receive 2 hours free every day. Additional hours and boards are $10 per hour
Paddlecraft Hours of Operation on Hollywood Beach: - Paddlecraft are allowed to utilize the entire length of the the municipal beach before 10 a.m. and after 5 p.m.
- Paddlecraft are allowed at all hours south of Madison Street (The Keating Park kiosk is located south of Madison Street)
- Paddlecraft are allowed at all hours north of Liberty Street.(The New Hampshire Street kiosk is located north of Liberty Street)
- In the Central Beach area, south of Liberty Street and north of Madison Street, paddlecraft must remain 100 yards from shore during the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. (The kiosk at Charnow Park is set to comply with the rules set forth in City Ordinance 99.02.)

REMINDER: Hollywood is Plastic and Foam Free Single-Use Plastics and Foam are Prohibited on Hollywood Beach, at City-Owned Parks and Facilities, and by City VendorsThe City of Hollywood is committed to reducing our environmental impact and becoming more sustainable. One step the City has taken in achieving this goal is to ban the use of nonbiodegradable containers, like plastics and expanded polystyrene foam (EPS), for serving food products.
If you're planning on going to the beach or park or attending an event or meeting at City Hall, a community center, park, ArtsPark at Young Circle, or other city facility, please don't bring plastic bottles, bags and other single-use plastics and foam containers.
