1. Does the City of Hollywood always require Insurance?

Yes, insurance is always required. The Certificate of Insurance policy must provide at least $1 million of Comprehensive General Liability to include the following:
• Name of the insurance company
• Name of the insured production company Certificate holder should be named as follows: City of Hollywood, 2600 Hollywood Blvd. Hollywood, FL 33020
• Policy number and dates of coverage
Note: For General Liability only, the certificate holder is noted as additional insured with respect to claims arising out of the operational of the named insured.

2. How do I submit a Film Permit Application?

Fill out the film permit application located at www.sunny.org/film. The Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward Office of Film and Entertainment will work with the City of Hollywood to process your application. There is no fee for a film permit in the City of Hollywood, but charges for related services such as parking, police detail officers and facility rental fees may apply.

3. How much time is needed to process a film permit?

Your permit should be submitted a minimum of five (5) business days prior to the first day of filming. The City will make every effort to accommodate shorter notice, but cannot assure the needed arrangements for public safety and notification can be made in a reduced time frame.

4. Where are the offices for the City of Hollywood located?

Hollywood City Hall, 2600 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, FL 33020. The Hollywood Police

5. I'm not sure where I want to film, how can I take care of the permit responsibilities?

It is important for production companies to be specific about film locations. The City of Hollywood does not issue blanket permits and you will need to identify on the film permit application the area in which you would like to film. If you are unsure of the area or need location assistance, please contact the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward Office of Film and Entertainment at 954.767.2467.

6. Is there an exemption for a small crew?

There are no exemptions from the permit process. If your production is requesting to use public rights-of-way or other public areas, you will be required to have a film permit and proof of insurance.

7. Is there a film permit fee?

No. However, there may be additional costs associated with safety, parking, security, facility rental, or traffic issues.

8. How do I pay my film permit fees?

You can pay for parking, safety inspections, facility rentals, police details via cash, check, money order. Some fees may be payable by credit card. All fees must be paid in full prior to issuance of a film permit.

9. What if I want to film on the sidewalks? How do I notify the neighboring property owners/business our production will be in their area?

As part of the film permitting process, you will be required to distribute notification letters to the business owners or residents who will be impacted by the filming activity. In some instances, the City may require you to receive the permission of all property owners who will be directly impacted by the production. Notification letters must be distributed to all properties within 500 feet of the location(s) of the production. Applicants may be asked to provide a listing of the addresses notified. Notification letters must be approved by the City prior to distribution.

10. What if I need law enforcement?

Based on the size of your production and the scope of your activities, the Hollywood Police Department will determine whether officers will be required on-site during the film event. There is a charge of $100.00 for the police permit. The officer is paid at a rate of at least $35.00 per hour (depending on rank) on-site in cash or by check.
