The Fleet Management Division operates to ensure the safety of City vehicles and equipment (excluding Fire & Police). It received a Pioneering Spirit award from the South Florida Regional Planning
Council for its promotion and implementation of alternative fuel usage in the South Florida region.
Normal working hours are Mondays through Fridays, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Responsibilities include:
Purchasing, diagnosing, repairing, modifying and upgrading the City's fleet of automotive
and specialized vehicles, small equipment, beach crafts, etc.
Overseeing the warehouse inventory of fleet parts, and developing minimum criteria
and standards for vehicle and equipment specifications.
Collaborating with user departments in identifying specifications for special use vehicles.
Providing training in the operation and use of equipment and ensuring that vehicles meet or
exceed OSHA safety standards.
Operating and maintaining the City's vehicle refueling system which includes a Compressed
Natural Gas (CNG) alternative fuel refueling station - one of Broward County's first clean-burning
natural gas refueling stations.
