The Public Works Department is a multi-faceted and multi-talented organization within the City governmental
structure tasked with the responsibility of ensuring the smooth and uninterrupted delivery of municipal
services to residents, businesses and visitors in Hollywood. Consisting of over 200 staff members, the
Public Works Department includes in its ranks managerial, administrative, supervisory, clerical, skilled
trades, semi-skilled, and security personnel with years of combined experience.
The various municipal services provided to City residents, businesses and visitors is accomplished
through experienced, trained departmental staff in the field and independent contractors supervised
by departmental staff, supported by departmental administrative staff housed in the Public Works
Operations Center.
The Public Works Department provides a vast spectrum of services including maintenance
services for City streets, facilities, buildings, parks, fleet vehicles, and the beach, street
beautification, and small-scale capital infrastructure improvements as well as residential and
commercial garbage collection services, bulky waste collection and yard waste collection services.
Moreover, the Department is responsible for the operations of the Hollywood Marina and the
services provided to local and visiting boaters in Hollywood. The Department’s table of organization
is comprised of the following five major divisions: Administration, Fleet Management,
Building & Grounds Maintenance, Streets & Highways Maintenance, and Environmental Services.
Within each of these divisions are several programs tasked with specific areas of responsibilities
within their specialties.
True to the department’s motto – “Proud to Care”, members are focused on and continually strive
to maximize the municipal services provided to City residents and businesses, while ensuring the
most efficient and effective use of City resources for the benefit of the City’s residents, businesses,
and visitors. Each member of the Public Works Department takes pride in the level and diversity
of services provided to our City, observes the trust placed in them by residents, businesses and
visitors and cares that each job assignment is performed skillfully, safely and completely.
Except for public holidays, Administration offices are open Mondays through Fridays between
8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Generally, the maintenance divisions conduct operations Mondays through
Fridays between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. with a limited number of operations scheduled to commence
earlier and other operations to end later. See specific divisions for direct telephone numbers
and schedules. Voice mail messages may be left after working hours and/or on the weekends and
holidays and will be retrieved the next business day. For emergencies, call the police
