A Message
from the City Manager
Dear
Hollywood Residents, Business Owners and Visitors,
The City
of Hollywood has a long history of striving to provide exceptional
services to all who live, work and play in our community. As we
celebrate the City's 85th Anniversary this year, Hollywood
employees are proud to share their Strategic Plan on this website.
This Plan represents the goals and objectives employees have
adopted to promote quality and efficiency in all they do to enhance
the quality of life for residents, business owners and visitors in
our City. We are proud of our diverse workforce and its talents,
abilities and commitment to sustainable practices in the face of
constantly changing economic conditions.
The
Strategic Plan was originally established in 2003 with a challenge
to every employee to share their knowledge, ideas and imaginations
in the development of a blueprint for City operations which openly
demonstrates respect for customers, other employees and our natural
and financial resources. Since its beginnings, the Plan has been
fully developed and implemented by employees with the understanding
they have the most knowledge about what needs to be completed to
provide service in the most effective and efficient manner.
Employees established the mission statement and purpose, core
values and commitment to customers. Early in the process, employees
determined the focus areas they believed were critical to service
delivery. Through the years, the Plan has successfully adapted to a
changing environment. Focus areas have expanded to meet new
demands. As you watch our City operate and grow, you will see
concentrated efforts in these focus areas:
Every
employee in every Department and Office is empowered to not only
develop goals and strategies to enhance these focus areas, but to
carry out the actions needed for success.
In the
very beginning of our planning process, employees were asked to
ensure their plans held true to five basic principles intrinsic to
public service: authority, accountability, responsibility,
empowerment and focus. You will see evidence of these principles as
you read our Plan and see it in action throughout all City of
Hollywood operations. I sincerely believe you will not find a
more dedicated and committed workforce anywhere. Each and every
employee has a stake in and shares ownership of this Strategic
Plan and is able to use it as a compass to serve the public.
