Beach Safety

The Beach Safety Division serves as a public safety function for the city's municipal beach.  The emphasis of the division is on ensuring the safety of beach patrons through the provision of year-round lifeguard services including, responding to all beach and water emergencies and enforcing all city codes and ordinances related to the beach.

 

Facility and Equipment

Our division maintains eight first-aid stations, twenty-one lifeguard towers and an administrative office 7 days a week, year-round.  The Beach Safety headquarters, located at 351 Michigan St., contains administrative offices, training room, locker area, 13 land based emergency response vehicles, 2 Kawasaki Jet Ski with rescue sled, a variety of specialized ocean rescue equipment, and 5 Automated External Defibrillators.
