Public Works staff, along with the City's Rewards-For-Recycling Program partner Recycling Perks, will be meeting with Neighborhood and Civic Associations to present information related to the City's Recycling Program for all single-family and duplex residences and Recycling Perks' Recycling Incentive Program.

Florida Power and Light (FPL) is holding "Power to Save" events across its service area. These events are designed to provide information to residents on energy saving programs and rebates, as well as connect them with other service agencies that offer various assistance programs.
The next event will be held in Hollywood at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, 2400 Charleston Street. FPL is providing a free BBQ lunch to all attendees and will have energy experts on hand to provide value cost saving information and services. Additionally, the City's Community Development Division has coordinated with several non-profits and social service agencies to provide information about their services including Impact Broward, Learning for Success, Hispanic Unity of Florida, Junior Achievement of South Florida, Women in Distress, Boys & Girls Club, VFW Post 8195, 2-1-1 Broward, Liberia Economic and Social Development, Inc. and The Russell Life Skills and Reading Foundation.

The Property Appraiser's Office hosts community outreach events each month throughout Broward County. Staff will be available to assist with Homestead, Senior and other property tax exemption applications, as well as answer questions. The outreach program provides convenient & accessible service to the residents of Broward County. Deadline to file for 2016 exemptions is March 1, 2016, with a late filing deadline of September 19, 2016.
Documents required to file a Homestead Exemption include:
• A current Florida driver's license or Florida identification card (for non-drivers), and
• A current voter registration card or declaration of domicile
• Non-US citizens must also provide proof of permanent residency.
Qualified residents 65 or older as of January 1, 2016 may also apply for the additional Senior Exemption. Documents required for the Senior Exemption include a 2015 income tax return or if one does not file income taxes, a copy of the 2015 Social Security 1099 Form.
