Commissioner Patty Asseff has been a resident of Hollywood for more than 40 years and is a civic activist, community leader and business person. She serves on many boards and organizations, including Chair of the South Florida Regional Planning Council, former Chair of the Hollywood Planning and Zoning Board, former President of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Gold Coast Clean Air Coalition, President of the South Florida Ballet Theatre and a board member of the Hollywood Art and Culture Center. She also is a graduate of Leadership Hollywood. 

The Asseff’s pride themselves on being a “homegrown” Hollywood family. Commissioner Asseff is married for more than 40 years to Dr. Abraham Asseff, a long-time practicing dentist on Hollywood Beach. They first lived in Hollywood Hills and have resided in the Hollywood Lakes neighborhood for over 20 years.

The Asseff’s three children were all born and raised in Hollywood and attended both Nativity Catholic Church and School and St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Daughter, Andrea, now practices dentistry with her father. Their son, Michael, also lives in Hollywood and is a local business owner. Their oldest daughter, Shawndra Asseff Baird, lives in Sarasota and is a real estate broker. 

The Asseff’s greatest joy is their beautiful granddaughter, McKenzie.
