CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT AND BUDGET TASK FORCE

- Revised Mission Statement:
This Task Force will consider the Capital Improvement and budget, identifying facility and infrastructure improvements to be
incorporated within the overall plan. The Capital Improvement and Budget Task Force will also identify potential funding sources
and try to identify local resources for proposed projects necessary for City-Wide Master Plan implementation.
- Priorities:
- Look at Proposed Five Year CIP
- Utilize local resources and assets
- ID prioritizing process and criteria for the CIP projects
- ID pressing areas within the City
- ID funding sources

CITY-WIDE PRIORITIES TASK FORCE

- Revised Mission Statement:
This Task Force will examine and review overall City-wide priorities. This Task Force will focus on both short and long term
goals. The Task Force will also establish criteria to rank and prioritize the recommendations made by all the Task Forces. The
priorities established by this Task Force will provide uniform and formal direction for the future of the City.
- Priorities:
- ID, coordinate and rank City-Wide Master Plan priorities
- ID existing City priorities
- Create a Unified Vision for the City
- Increase Economic Diversification
- Maintain City's demographic mix
- Empower Neighborhoods increase City's accountability to them

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT & REDEVELOPMENT TASK FORCE

- Original Mission Statement:
This Task Force will examine economic development and redevelopment issues confronting the City, and establish economic
development priorities. This Task Force will identify specific locations into which new businesses can be attracted. The Task Force
will also consider strategies for the recruitment of new commercial and industrial businesses, while maintaining and expanding
existing commercial and industrial businesses in the City.
- Priorities:
- Finding ways to help existing businesses and attract new business
- Making the City of Hollywood a place that people want to come to visit, live and work
- Pinpoint successful areas in the City and try to replicate their success in depressed areas
- Select and identify potential focal point areas that would help adjacent business areas
- Re-evaluate pay parking in the beach area to encourage visitors to the beach
- Educate residents and general public about City improvement efforts. Provide updated info. for outside web sites
- Analyze economic impacts of future DOT widening of 441 corridor

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION TASK FORCE

- Original Mission Statement:
This Task Force will examine environmental and conservation issues, such as natural resource protection, as they relate to the
City's air, land, sea and local waterways. The Task Force will make recommendations for improved resource protection efforts and
will clearly identify environmentally sensitive areas to be protected. The Task Force will identify potential funding sources and
other implementation tools available to protect these resources.
- Priorities:
- Beach preservation: replenishment, renourishment, sustaining, standards for long-term basis, development issues, maintenance;
dune restoration & planting; turtle hatcheries
- Native habitat restoration and preservation: restoration of native trees; elimination of invasive exotic species; restoration of
benthic communities; wildlife
- Pollution abatement: noise; surface/ground water
- Political accountability to foster environmentally sound decisions: Planning and Zoning: Capital Improvements; Public outreach
and education
- Identify environmentally sensitive areas

GEOGRAPHIC, ZONING & LAND USE TASK FORCE

- Revised Mission Statement:
This Task Force will create a sectional Geographic, Zoning and Land Use document. This document will include suggestions and
recommendations for revisions of zoning and land use patterns. This will be accomplished by defining neighborhoods and
development/redevelopment areas into "Planning Zones" using physical or natural geographic dividers. It is anticipated
that this Task Force will provide a clear direction for future zoning and land use decisions.
- Priorities:
- Zoning and Land Use compatibility with existing development
- Controlling density of development
- Preservation of existing open space/recreational
- Providing open space/recreational areas in redevelopment
- Design element in Comprehensive Plan
- Address appropriate areas for industrial and commercial areas. Possible rezoning of areas
- Examination of zoning and land uses in annexation areas
- Development in surrounding municipalities
- Port and Airport (free trade zones, enterprise zones)
- Intermodal station (Impacts on neighborhood)
- Impact of passenger rail on Dixie Highway Corridor
- Criteria for variances and rezonings

This Task Force will consider housing opportunities, including an inventory of the current housing stock of the City. The Task
Force will identify geographic locations where different types of housing including affordable housing can be located
in the future. The Task Force will also identify potential funding sources and other implementation tools and resources needed to
increase housing opportunities in the City.
- Priorities:
- Inventory and location of housing stock found throughout the City
- Transportation
- Rental and Homeownership Programs
- Design Guidelines/Code Enforcement

MULTI-MODAL TRANSPORTATION TASK FORCE

- Revised Mission Statement:
This Task Force will examine multi-modal transportation and traffic safety issues. The Task Force will identify changes
and improvements to the current transportation system necessary to meet the current and future transportation and traffic
safety needs of City residents and visitors. The Task Force will consider automobile, parking, mass transit, such as
rail and buses, traffic safety, and alternative modes such as bicycling and pedestrian walkways. Linkages between these
different methods of travel will also be considered.
- Priorities:
- Defining linkages with all of the other task forces
- Safety (Vehicle and Pedestrian); intersection safety; slow traffic down
- High speeds of vehicular traffic through residential neighborhoods
- Garage enclosures create parking limitations
- Entrance and exit to Westlake Village adds too much traffic through adjacent residential neighborhoods; Place traffic light on
Sheridan for West Lake Village
- Improved County Bus Service for all of Hollywood; Community Shuttle Service
- Improved transportation for persons with disabilities
- Improved sidewalk access
- Limit residential streets from expanding to four lanes
- Limit residential area speeds to 25 mph with traffic calming measures
- Inadequate and limited signalization and signage in parts of the City
- Inadequate bike paths and pedestrian walkways

This Task Force will consider parks, recreation facilities, cultural arts and open spaces. The Task Force will evaluate
the existing distribution of parks and recreation facilities. The Task Force will identify areas to be maintained as future
open spaces. The Task Force will also identify potential financial resources and other tools and resources necessary to implement
any identified projects. The Task Force will expand citizens' involvement in parks and recreation planning.
- Priorities:
- Research Organization of Parks and Recreation Department and accountability
- Usage of City parks and parks facilities identifying cultural programs
- ID process that enables residents to identify cultural and recreational programs for youth and elderly residents

infrastructure to attain and sustain a good quality of life for all of the city's residents; eliminate disparities between neighborhoods and
promote equity; protect and improve the environment; promote community and economic development; and promote infill and compact
development where appropriate.
