As the City of Hollywood continues to grow, there is an increased
emphasis on the redevelopment of the four major commercial corridors:
State Road 7/441, Hollywood Boulevard, Federal Highway/US 1 and Dixie
Highway. The City is focused on positive commercial corridor and
business redevelopment in a manner compatible with the Citywide Master
Plan. For information on each corridor please select one of the links

State Road 7 is one of the major transit corridors in Hollywood and throughout Broward County.
It is utilized as a connector to neighboring cities and is a hub for public transportation.
The area encompassing this corridor is made up of three neighborhoods: Washington Park, Beverly Park, and Lawn Acres.
Commercial uses front the roadway while remaining areas are dominated by residential development.
In an effort to revitalize this important corridor and prepare for future population growth and increased traffic,
the Broward County Transit and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) have scheduled a number of County-wide
transit improvements to help decrease headway time and accommodate improvements in public transportation.
In Hollywood, these include reconstruction to add two additional lanes, new bus bays, upgraded drainage and
enhanced landscaping. Although they will take place at different times, construction is scheduled to begin
between 2008 and 2012. More information...
Hollywood Boulevard was constructed in 1921 as a 100-foot wide highway to entice tourists heading south to Miami to visit Hollywood.
Joseph Young's vision for this Boulevard was to construct the Hollywood Beach Hotel on the east end of the Boulevard and
the Hollywood Hills Inn on the west end of the Boulevard. Also part of this vision was the construction of three circles:
the easternmost circle, originally named Harding Circle became the site of a ten-acre park, which was later renamed Young Circle;
City Hall Circle, later renamed Watson Circle; and Academy Circle, which was originally home to a military academy and is
now known as Presidential Circle. More information...
Constructed in the 1930's, Federal Highway, or U.S. 1, was the main north-south route to the industrial northeast in America.
In the 1960's, I-95 was constructed and Federal Highway became a primarily local, commercial corridor.
Today U.S. 1 runs approximately 2.5 miles through the City of Hollywood. It consists of mostly commercial buildings and offices,
with a few blocks of multi-family homes and some mixed-use projects in the CRA district.
It is home to the ArtsPark at Young Circle and the Radius, a mixed-use development project.
Master planning efforts will entail review of existing and proposed zoning codes, developing new zoning regulations and
assisting with the approval processes necessary to finalize recommended zoning changes.

This two or three lane road is part of two routes (east and west)
which run from Miami, Florida north to Chicago, Illinois.
Extending parallel to the Atlantic Coast, it was one of only four ways to access Hollywood in the early 1920's. Originally lined with Australian pine trees, land immediately surrounding
the Dixie Highway Corridor is now defined by multi-family as well as light intensity commercial and industrial uses.
