City-Wide Master Plan, Sub Area 1
Under the direction of our City Manager, the City-Wide Master Plan (CWMP) was created in 2001 to provide the residents’ collective vision for Hollywood. This document breaks the City into 8 sub-areas with the State Road 7 Corridor having it’s own sub-area. Not only this, but it was actually the first sub-area addressed when this document was created.

Development Projects

Fillmore Street to Stirling Road
The reconstruction of SR 7 from Fillmore St to Stirling Rd (project # 227775-1) is now fully funded for roadway acquisition and construction. We are currently in the process of identifying the roadway needed and we expect property owners to be contacted and acquisitions to begin sometime late next year. The construction is funded for FY 2016 (which begins July 2015). The exact letting month has not yet been determined.

Dade County Line to Fillmore Street
This project provides for reconstruction of the 441 corridor expanding the roadway from 4 lanes to a 6 lane urban cross section, with drainage facilities, replacement lighting and upgraded traffic signalization. The project is currently in the design and advance acquisition phase, however, it continues to experience delays in funding allocations and is currently projected for construction in 2013.

Roadway Improvements
Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will be doing a road resurfacing project between Fillmore Street and Stirling Road since the widening project is not yet funded. The resurfacing project will include roadway repairs necessary to extend the life of the pavement. The project will also include new sidewalk connections, repairing existing sidewalks, bus stop improvements, adding additional landscaping and replacing some signage. The signal at Taft Street will be replaced and upgraded to a mast arm. The resurfacing project is expected to begin construction towards the end of 2012 and will cost about $1.8M.

For additional information, please contact Scott Peterson, FDOT Design Project Manager at 954-777-4416.

Road Widening Project
The Department of Transportation will begin the process of acquiring right of way for the widening of SR 7 from Fillmore Street to south of Stirling Road (project # 227775-1) early in 2011. Currently, only about 25% of the total funds needed for land purchases are available. The Department will begin surveying and testing some parcels in anticipation of the right of way acquisitions. At this time, land will only be acquired from willing sellers. It is not known when additional funds will become available for additional right of way purchases. The construction of this segment remains unfunded and is not currently scheduled. If you would like to contact DOT with questions or concerns, they can be reached at:

State Road 7 Water and Sewer Installation (No. 09-7042)
The Department of Public Utilities is working on the water and sewer infrastructure improvements along the corridor. These improvements will take place in two phases. Phase I of the project is from Hollywood Boulevard North to Atlanta Street. Design and permitting for this project began in January 2009 and will end in July 2010. Due to ongoing negotiations with FDOT, the construction schedule for this project is not finalized. Phase II of the project is from Hollywood Boulevard South to Pembroke Road. Design and permitting for this phase will begin in January 2012 and will end in July 2013 with construction beginning September 2014 and ending June 2015. Construction costs for Phase I of the project are $7.5M while construction costs for Phase II of the project are $3M. The improvements will include replacing the existing 6 and 8 inch water mains with new 8 or 12 inch water mains to improve water service and the installation of a new gravity sewage collection system with two sewer lift station along US 441/SR 7. Once the improvements are complete, property owners will be required to connect their water to the lateral connection.
