The Department of Business and International Trade is responsible for carrying out the City Commissioner's #1 priority, Economic Development.

The Department is comprised of the Office of the Director and one operating division that provides a wide spectrum of services to the community. This operating division is Commercial Corridor Redevelopment. The Department is responsible for facilitating public/private partnership development, managing the City's real estate portfolio and pursuing economic development initiatives. The Department has created the Overall Economic Development Plan for the City of Hollywood.

The Overall Economic Development Plan establishes objectives and strategies to attain the following Goals:

  • Increase the wealth of the community.
  • Ensure jobs for our citizens.
  • Expand the tax base.
  • Improve the quality of life.
  • Provide retail recruitment and infill projects to stabilize Hollywood's Historic Downtown and Beach areas, and improve all commercial and mixed-use districts.

The objectives and strategies identified in the Overall Economic Development Plan incorporates the goals and objectives of the Citywide Master Plan, as well as components of the City's 1996 Economic Development Strategic Plan; the Downtown ULI Study and Recommendations; the Hollywood Beach ULI Study and Recommendations; the Business Development and Visioning Goals of the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce; the goals and objectives of the Hollywood Business Council; and recommendations of the City's economic development partners.
 

Division of Commercial Corridor Redevelopment

This program will concentrate on the redevelopment of the four (4) commercial corridors: Dixie Highway, Federal Highway, Hollywood Boulevard and US 441 to bring about positive commercial corridor and business redevelopment in a manner compatible with the Citywide Master Plan and will undertake the revitalization and redevelopment of additional commercial corridors.
