Pursuant to
Chapter 161.07 (G) (1) of the City of Hollywood Code of Ordinances, all residential
developments are subject to and shall be required to dedicate to the City, land to be used for
parks, passive open space or recreational purposes, OR pay a fee in lieu thereof, to meet the
needs created by their development and use of lands. It is the City's option to accept either
land or cash. NOTE: The City generally does not accept land in parcels smaller than one (1)
acre. Specific characteristics for the acceptance of land are outlined in the ordinance.
When the calculation of a dedication of land or fee in lieu thereof is greater than the
equivalent of 6% of the land area of the property being developed, the additional requirements
over and above 6% may be exempted by the City Commission by way of credits allowed for private
parks, open space or recreational purposes which are built within the development to serve
the new residents. (See question 9 below). Payment or dedication of land must be made prior
to the issuance of a building permit.
