2002 Referendum Questions

On Tuesday, September 10, 2002, a referendum election will be held. Here is a brief description and the ballot questions.

CHARTER AMENDMENTS - REFERENDUM - ELIMINATION OF PRIMARY ELECTIONS:

These City Charter amendments would eliminate primary elections (commonly known as run-offs) for the offices of mayor and city commissioner, so that candidates for these offices would be elected at one election, either a regular general election or a special general election. The candidate receiving the greatest number of votes, whether or not receiving a majority of the votes cast, would be declared elected.

Question:

SALE OF CITY-OWNED PROPERTY:

This proposal would approve the sale, by the City of Hollywood, Florida, of real property described as Parcel No. 150 located contiguous to the east side of 2204 Van Buren Street; provided, however, that the sale would not take place unless and until the City Commission approves the specific terms and conditions of the sale at a later date.
