The Environmental Services Division is responsible for the timely and efficient collection of garbage,
brush, green waste, hard junk and recyclables in order to maintain the health and safety of the residents
of Hollywood.
In order to clarify what different types of material make up the broad term of solid waste,
we provide the following list of definitions:
GARBAGE
(Solid Waste): All kitchen and table refuse, paper, rags, food scraps, and paperboard boxes (cookie,
cereal and soda boxes).
RECYCLABLES: Plastic food and beverage containers (#1, 2, 3); aluminum, steel and tin cans; clear,
green, blue and brown glass; newspapers and the inserts that came with the newspaper; milk and juice
cartons. Also brown, corrugated shipping boxes.
GREEN WASTE: Grass clippings, loose leaves, palm fronds (cut up), small shrubbery cuttings, weeds.
COMMINGLED MATERIAL:
Brush:
Tree branches, palm fronds and shrubbery, cut to a maximum
of four feet in length. Household
Items: Old furniture, box
springs, mattresses, sofas, carpeting,
carpet padding, patio furniture, wood, metal, or barbeque grill
(no propane tanks). White Goods:
Dishwasher, washer, dryer, stove, water heater, refrigerator (door
must be removed) and air conditioners.
Loose materials:
Magazines, flower pots, etc. No household hazardous
waste materials or construction materials will be collected.
