1. Can I get a refund for a parking permit?

Yes. If a parking permit is returned at least six months before it is due to expire, the city will prorate the refund based on the remaining balance of time. Refunds will be processed in 10 working days and made by check.

2. Can I park my recreational vehicle on the beach as long as I pay the meter?

No. The city’s ordinance section 72.121 prohibits recreational vehicles being parked in the beach street parking areas.

3. Can I park my motorcycle in a regular parking space?

Yes. You may park your motorcycle in a regular parking space. If you are parked in a metered space, you must purchase time on the meter. You must also obey all other City of Hollywood parking ordinances as they are fully enforced.

4. Can I use a beach garage parking meter receipt to park on the streets near the beach?

No. You can only use a beach garage meter receipt in the beach garage. If you move to a parking space on-street, you will need to purchase additional time on the parking meter.

5. How can I report a broken parking meter?

To report a broken meter, contact the Office of Parking at 954.921.3535 or meter technician at 954.253.9072 to provide us with the meter number and location of meter. Then proceed to nearest working parking meter to process your parking transaction.

6. How can I report an illegally parked vehicle?

Call the Office of Parking at 954.921.3535 or non- emergency police at 954.967. 4636 and provide the following information:

• Exact location where vehicle is parked
• Make, model, tag, and color of the vehicle
• Why the vehicle is considered illegally parked (e.g.: blocked driveway, abandoned, fire hydrant, yellow curb, etc.)

7. How do I recover my vehicle if it was booted or towed?

You must bring cash or a cashier’s check in the amount stipulated on your warning sticker that was placed on your vehicle 24 hours prior to the boot or tow. If you need to verify the amount owed, please call the Office of Parking at 954.921.3535 during business hours.

8. How do I appeal my citation?

If you believe the citation was issued in error, you may appeal your citation within 10 days, excluding weekends and holidays. You may appeal online or in-person at the Office of Parking.
Do not pay your citation if you are appealing it.

9. How much does metered on-street parking cost?

The hourly rate is $1.50 Monday through Thursday; $2 Friday through Sunday. Meters will accept a minimum purchase of $0.25; minimum purchase with credit cards is $2.

10. I’m an employee, where can I park?

Employees can park in designated areas located in downtown and in all metered parking spaces on Hollywood beach.

11. I need a place to park my large recreational vehicle, commercial vehicle or a boat & trailer, where do I go?

The Recreational Vehicle Storage Facility is available to all residents and non residents. A lease agreement may be obtained by visiting the Office of Parking located at 2600 Hollywood Boulevard, City Hall West Side Annex Building. Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm, except weekends and holidays.

12. If the parking meter is out of service can I still park without paying?

No. Please proceed to the nearest parking meter in the area or use the pay by phone service to pay for parking. For more information about this service, please visit Parkmobile.

13. Is there any free parking on city streets?

Yes. Free parking is offered in the downtown district on Polk Street, Tyler Street, Hollywood Boulevard, Harrison Street and Van Buren Street between 17th and 22nd Avenues.
Free on-street parking is offered for a 3-hour time limit in most areas between 8 am and 8 pm; and free parking anytime between 8 pm and 8 am. One hour time limit applies in some areas around Young Circle.

14. What do I do if I get a new car after I purchased a parking permit?

You must return your existing permit to the Office of Parking, apply for a change of vehicle and provide the official sales invoice or insurance document showing the permit holder’s name and address.
We must see the amended vehicle registration document as soon as possible to update our records. Your new parking permit will be issued to expire on the same day as the surrendered one.

15. What do I do if my parking meter receipt was upside down or fell off the dashboard and I received a citation?

You can provide proof of the meter receipt (front and back) along with the citation by mail or in-person to the Office of Parking. If the receipt was valid at the time you were cited, the city will void the citation as a one-time courtesy, if you are eligible.

16. What do I do if my parking permit is lost or stolen?

You can apply for a one-time replacement permit if your original permit is lost, stolen, destroyed, or damaged. You must complete an affidavit in order to receive a replacement.

17. What do I do if the meter I parked at was not working properly and I received a citation?

You must notify the Office of Parking by phone or in-person by 4:30 pm on the next business day of receiving the citation to have the parking meter checked by a meter technician 954.253.9072. If the meter is found to be defective or malfunctioning, the City will void the citation. If the meter is found to be operating properly, you will have to pay the citation or request a court date to appear before a judge.
To appear before a judge, complete an Affidavit for Court Appeal.

19. What payment methods are accepted by the parking meters?

The parking meters accept coins, cash, debit, and credit cards - Visa and MasterCard only. You can also use the pay by phone service. For more information about this service, please visit Park Mobile.

20. When is paid parking enforced?

Metered parking is enforced 24/7 a week including weekends and holidays.

21. Where can I obtain a handicap placard?

24. Who can apply for a Resident Parking Permit?

All Hollywood residents including seasonal residents. You can apply for a Resident Parking Permit if:

• All documents are in the permit applicant’s name
• Either your current lease agreement, current utility bill, voter ID, or property tax bill has a Hollywood address
• Your current driver’s license has a Hollywood address
• Your current vehicle registration has a Hollywood address

25. Why is parking enforcement necessary in the city?

We strongly prefer to educate customers in order to help them avoid tickets. That said, sound parking enforcement is essential to a healthy parking system: it enables the city to maximize use of the existing parking supply and ensures that the street is used in the best interests of the community.

26. I parked my car for less than two hours and returned to the same block to park later during the day. Why did I receive a ticket for parking in excess of posted time limits in downtown Hollywood?

A citation is issued for exceeding the posted time limit if the vehicle was parked on the same block for a period longer than 3 hours. If you leave the downtown area for a few hours, the enforcement officer doesn’t know when you left or when you came back. They do not know if you are a downtown employee, downtown resident, or just a visitor. They do know that your vehicle was in the area earlier and also there hours later. If you are electronically chalked at both times on the same day, you can be cited.

27. I was unaware of the parking rule changes in Hollywood. Can the city void my parking citation?

We do offer a courtesy void/warning for a driver if he/she is eligible. A driver can appeal the citation and ask for a courtesy void/warning.

28. I have a citywide parking permit. Can I park for as long as I want anywhere in Hollywood?

Citywide permits allow drivers to park for free in the Hollywood Beach area and in city garages. It does not allow a driver to exceed the posted time limits. It does, however, allow a driver to park long term in areas designated for long term city permit parking.
