1. Who do I call regarding after hours utility emergencies?

4. Who is responsible for finding and fixing leaks in my system?

5. When can I water my lawn and are there water restrictions?

Irrigation (watering) is never allowed during the day for existing landscaping. Irrigation is allowed Wednesdays and Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m. for odd-numbered addresses and Thursdays and Sundays from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m. for even-numbered addresses. 7. How do I start new service (water, sewer or trash)?

New utility accounts can be opened in person at City Hall, 2600 Hollywood Blvd, Room #103.
Requirements include: a state issued photo id. a copy of your lease (if you are renting) or closing documents (if you are the new property owner). The appropriate deposit. 9. How is my bill calculated?

10. What is the storm water fee, and what is it for?

The storm water fee is used by the City to improve the storm drainage system. Our flat terrain and inadequate drainage facilities make flooding issues very challenging. The fee is assessed based on the estimated amount of runoff from the property. For more information, please call the Water Office at 954.921.3241.

12. Who do I call about storm drain issues?

Storm sewers are maintained by the City in which they are located, unless they are on private property. Storm sewers are identified as the large grates in streets and near curbs that collect rainwater runoff. In Hollywood, contact Underground Utilities at 954.921.3046.

13. How is our drinking water treated?

Our Drinking Water comes primarily from the Biscayne Aquifer ~100-200 feet below us. Additional wells have been installed to the Floridian Aquifer which is approximately 900-feet underground. Hollywood water is treated with a combination of RO (reverse osmosis) filtration and lime softening. Our drinking water is tested extensively 365 days a year. Wastewater and stormwater are also tested periodically.

The City does not test private backflows. It is required that you hire a certified backflow technician to test and certify your backflow device annually and provide the results to the Plumbing Division at 954.921.3335

22. How does the city handle water polluters?

Our Regulatory Compliance Department investigates all reports of water pollution. It is illegal to dump anything down storm drains in the state of Florida. If you witness dumping or spilling to a storm drain or water body please call 954.921.3241; after hours call 954.921.3288. The City also has an Industrial Pretreatment Program that oversees, and limits, industrial inputs to our sewer system.
