Introduction:
The Citizens’ Transportation Committee created by the City of Hollywood
commission by resolution to explore and determine the concerns of
affected residents and business in the City with respect to
transportation issues.

Mission Statement:
The
Citizens’ Transportation Committee will:

Explore and determine the concerns of affected residents and business
in the City with respect to public transportation
- Make
committee findings, propose plans and specific recommendations to the
City Commission regarding public transportation

Explore and pursue funding sources for the City’s transportation needs
- Assist
in informing the public of transportation issues within the City

General Information:
The Citizens’ Transportation Committee conducts public
meetings once per month, at 6:30 p.m., on the third Thursday of the
month at City Hall.

Major Activities Of 2005
Sales Tax
The Committee
members were instrumental in recommending to the City Commission support for the
Penny Sales Tax.
Scenic Highways
The Committee
members were instrumental in recommending to the City Commission support for the
A1A Scenic Highway Program.
Florida Turnpike Enterprise Public Meeting and Workshops
The Committee
members attended public hearings regarding the whistle ban, Hollywood Blvd.
improvements, interchange improvements at Florida Turnpike and Hollywood /Pines
Boulevard, FEC Corridor Study, as well as the Sheridan Street Bridge widening at
the Florida Turnpike. The Committee was instrumental in voicing the interests of
Hollywood’s residents to both the MPO, and the Florida Department of
Transportation.
Broward County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO)
The Committee
members were instrumental in recommending to the MPO improvements to the City of
Hollywood. Recommendations by the board were added to the 2030 Long Range
Transportation Plan.

Activities And Goals For Year 2006
-
Attend and provide support to the City Commission
and through the Commission to the Regional Transit
Authority (RTA), MPO, FDOT and other agencies in
making determinations about transportation
projects, i.e. SR7, Hollywood/Pines Blvd upgrade,
and Neighborhood Transit Center.
Priority/Agenda
Goals including Funding (Transportation Impact Fees), increasing local transit
opportunities, Intelligent Transportation Systems (signalization), TOC/TOD, and
community meetings.
