Introduction:
The Citizens’ Transportation Committee created by the City of Hollywood
commission by resolution to explore and determine the concerns of
affected residents and business in the City with respect to
transportation issues.

Mission Statement:
The
Citizens’ Transportation Committee will:

Explore and determine the concerns of affected residents and business
in the City with respect to public transportation
- Make
committee findings, propose plans and specific recommendations to the
City Commission regarding public transportation

Explore and pursue funding sources for the City’s transportation needs
- Assist
in informing the public of transportation issues within the City

General Information:
The Citizens’ Transportation Committee conducts public
meetings once per month, at 6:30 p.m., on the third Thursday of the
month at City Hall.

Major Activities Of 2007
The following report is a summary of major activities conducted by the Hollywood Citizen's Transportation Committee for the year 2007
RAM Commercial Group
Hugo Pacanins, Ram Commercial Group, presented and discussed with the Committee
members the proposed Sheridan Stationside Land Use Plan Amendment. The Committee
drafted a letter of support outlining three key conditions: to provide increased
ingress/egress at Taft Street to alleviate the traffic impacts along the
southern access point; increased measures to mitigate traffic along the
adjoining neighborhoods and surrounding roadway network; and explore increased
transit involvement.

- The uncertainty of the future of the Board, facing a possible sunset, impeded the scheduling of any presentations or discussions until the City Commission made any formal appointments.

- The City Commission re-appointed two members and appointed three new members and to the Board.

Goals and Objectives For 2008
-
Attend and provide support to the City Commission
and through the Commission to the Regional Transit
Authority (RTA), MPO, FDOT and other agencies in
making determinations about transportation
projects
- Evaluate existing traffic patterns by reviewing traffic circulation studies, addressing issues such as access control, redistribution of traffic and directional changes in traffic flow, in an effort to increase traveling convenience.
- Encourage the expansion of the community transportation network, utilizing different styles and modes of transportation by coordinating with Broward County Mass Transit and other transit organizations.
- Consider the possibility of incorporating greenway connections/ greenway corridors to potentially include an adequately scaled public transportation option.
- Consider exploring new avenues of traffic calming measures for neighborhoods.
Priority/Agenda
Goals including Funding (Transportation Impact Fees), increasing local transit
opportunities, Intelligent Transportation Systems (signalization), TOC/TOD, and
community meetings.
