Overview
The Environmental Services Division oversees the timely and efficient collection of garbage, brush, hard junk, and recyclables in order to maintain the health and safety of the residents of Hollywood.
In order to clarify what different types of material make up the broad term of solid waste, we provide the following list of definitions:
- Commingled (bulk and green) Waste Material
- Brush: Tree branches, palm fronds and shrubbery, cut to a maximum of four feet in length
- Household Items: Old furniture, box springs, mattresses, sofas, carpeting, carpet padding, patio furniture, wood, metal, or barbeque grill (no propane tanks)
- Loose materials: Magazines, flower pots, etc. No household hazardous waste materials or construction materials will be collected
- White Goods: Dishwasher, washer, dryer, stove, water heater, refrigerator (door must be removed) and air conditioners
- Garbage - All kitchen and table refuse, rags, and food scraps.
- Recyclables - Plastic food and beverage containers (#1, 2, 3); aluminum, steel and tin cans; clear, green, blue and brown glass; newspapers and the inserts that came with the newspaper; milk and juice cartons. Also brown, corrugated shipping boxes
