Notice is hereby given that a General and Special Municipal Election will be held in the City of Hollywood, Florida, on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, for the purpose of electing the Mayor and Commissioners from Districts 1, 2, 4 and 6.

Persons seeking election may qualify with the City Clerk from noon, Monday, June 20, 2016 until noon, Friday, June 24, 2016.

The qualifying papers can be picked up in the Office of the City Clerk starting on Monday, June 6, 2016. Please contact this office at 954-921-3211 to set up an appointment.

The last date to return qualifying papers and appropriate payment drawn from your Campaign Account to the City Clerk’s Office is 12:00 noon on Friday, June 24, 2016.

Special Election Information
Commissioner Asseff has submitted her resignation for District 1 effective November 22, 2016.

Notice is hereby given that a Special Municipal Election will be held in the City of Hollywood, Florida, on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, for the purpose of electing a Commissioner from District 1 to fill the unexpired term until November 2018.

General Election Information
The Office of the City Clerk administers the city elections.

The Mayor and six City Commissioners are elected to four-year, staggered terms on a non-partisan basis.  Hollywood holds municipal elections every two years and the Mayor and City Commission are elected by Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and the Mayor.

Candidates for municipal office must file the appropriate forms with the City Clerk prior to opening a campaign account and to qualify for office.  Elections are conducted in accordance with the provisions of Title IX, Florida Statutes, Electors and Elections (Chapters 97-106); Article III of the City Charter; and Chapter 31 of the City Code of Ordinances.  For further information, publications and forms, please contact the City Clerk at 954.921.3211.

Seats Up for Election

November 8, 2016 – Mayor, Commissioners Districts 2, 4 and 6.
November 6, 2018 – Commissioners Districts 1, 3 and 5.

Political or Campaign Signs

City of Hollywood Campaign Sign Forms - Applications for Campaign Signs must be submitted to the City of Hollywood Code Compliance Unit, 2600 Hollywood Blvd., Old Library. All political and campaign signs must be placed in compliance with the City's Code of Ordinance.
