Commingled Material & Yard Waste

The Department of Public Works Environmental and Solid Waste Services oversees the refuse and recycling collection services provided by Waste Pro USA Inc. Waste Pro USA provides collection of commingled waste once a week with the collection a maximum of four (4) cubic yards of waste material. 

Commingled Guidelines

  • Professional tree trimmers, lawn maintenance companies, arborists, landscapers, etc. are required to properly dispose of their cuttings, branches, grass and leaves.  They shall not leave materials for pick-up by the City's Environmental Services contractor.  
  • A maximum of 4 cubic yards of commingled material per weekly pickup is allowed. Piles in excess of 4 cubic yards will not be removed until payment arrangements are made for the oversized portion. Call 954.967.4200 for more information on oversized piles.
  • Do not combine piles of your commingled materials with your neighbors' pile.
  • Commingled material cannot be put out for collection earlier than 12:00 p.m. (noon) on the day before your collection day.  You may be subject to fines if your commingled materials are out early.
  • No hazardous materials are accepted (paint, tires, used oil, chemicals, pesticides, feces, propane gas tanks, or any automotive/boat components).
  • No construction materials are accepted (drywall, cinder block, brick, floor tile, bathroom tile, roofing tile or shingles, concrete, wooden fencing, glass, rocks, dirt and construction debris).

Commingled materials should be place on the swale or curbside only if you do not have access to an alley. Waste Pro USA will not come onto private property to collect commingled materials.

Acceptable Commingled Material (Maximum of 4 cubic yards per pick-up)
One cubic yard is the size of a washing machine.

Brush:
Tree branches, palm fronds and shrubbery, cut to a maximum of four feet in length. Material must be piled neatly.

Household Items:
Furniture, box springs, mattresses, sofas, carpeting, carpet padding, patio furniture, metal, or barbeque grill (no propane tanks).

White Goods:
Dishwasher, washer, dryer, stove, water heater, refrigerator (door must be removed) and air conditioners (Freon must be removed).

Loose materials:
Flower pots, etc., can be set out in plastic bags or bundled together. Cardboard boxes are not acceptable containers. If old garbage cans or other solid containers are used, they will be taken and NOT REPLACED.

Residential Drop Off of Yard Waste and Commingled
Drop off yard waste or bulk trash at the Broward County Residential Drop-off Station every Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Household Hazardous Waste Drop Off
Used tires, paint, auto fluids, pool chemicals, paint thinners, pesticides, insecticides, oven & drain cleaners, mercury, fertilizers, solvents, automobile, boat and NiCad (button) batteries and used motor oil can be taken to the Permanent Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Locations  at 5601 W Hallandale Beach Blvd., every Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Electronics can be recycled by taking them to these Electronic Recycling locations.   Call 954.765.4999 for more information. 

Residents wishing to dispose of rocks, dirt and construction debris can bring these materials to the Broward County Landfill, 7101 SW 205 Avenue. There is a fee to dispose of these materials. Call 954.680.0087 for directions and fees. Explosives, hazardous waste and radioactive material are not accepted.
