Hollywood Photo Contest
The City of Hollywood’s 2012 Photo Contest is over and we have our winners!

Nearly 100 people submitted photos to capture images of what they loved best about the City of Hollywood. The three-member judging panel has determined the following three entries to be the first, second and third place winners (click each photo to enlarge):

First Place: Oscar Corbella
 Hollywood Boulevard Bridge
Mr. Corbella’s stunning photo captured the nighttime beauty of the Hollywood Boulevard bridge at the Intracoastal Waterway. The image features vibrant colors, crisp detail and balanced lighting for an evening photo of one of Hollywood’s more notable landmarks.

Second Place: Angela Burzo
Sunglasses on Beach
Few things say Hollywood, Florida like the sand and surf. Ms. Burzo’s photo of sunglasses on the sand, palm trees reflected in the lenses, and the beach in the background capture Hollywood’s fun-under-the-sun lifestyle.

Third Place: Smith Etienne
 Hollywood Beach Broadwalk
Ms. Etienne's beautiful panoramic snapshot captures a gorgeous morning sunrise on the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk, reminding us all that things just keep getting brighter in Hollywood.

Judges scored each photo using a criteria that awarded up to five points each for composition, theme, focal point, contrast and lighting, and overall focus. The judges also awarded up to 10 discretionary points for each photo.

Congratulations to the three winners, who will receive gift cards, and to everyone who participated in this year’s contest. The City of Hollywood also wants to extend a big “thank you” to the photo contest judges – Jane Hart, Curator of Exhibitions, Hollywood Art and Culture Center; Susan Ostheim, art instructor, South Broward High School; and Richard Roberts, Director, City of Hollywood Records and Archives Division.

The City of Hollywood will host an exhibition of the top photo contest entries on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 2600 Hollywood Boulevard, Second Floor. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Don’t miss it!
