Professional Certifications
The City of Hollywood is an authorized provider of American Red Cross professional certification courses. Each course follows the American Red Cross curriculum and standards. Certification is issued upon successful completion of the course.

First Aid, CPR & AED Certification

Red Cross First Aid, CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and AED (automated external defibrillator) training and certification meets the needs of workplace responders, professional rescuers school staffs, professional responders and healthcare providers, as well as the general public. We offer both certified and non-certified training options. Certification is issued upon successful completion. 

COURSE LENGTH: From 2 hours to 5 hours, depending on course option

  • First Aid: Learn how to respond to common first aid emergencies, including burns; cuts; head, neck and back injuries and more. Pediatric option available.
  • CPR/AED: Learn how to respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies in adults, including the use of automated external defibrillators (AED). Adult and infant/child CPR options available.
  • Review: Renew your First Aid/CPR/AED certification in an abbreviated class session. Current certification is required.
  • Challenge: Prepare on your own and demonstrate skill competency in front of a Red Cross instructor. Current certification is not required. 

Lifeguard Training

Interested in a great summer job or challenging career as a professional lifeguard? Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you’ll learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED and other skills you need to work as a professional lifeguard. Successful completion results in a 2-year certification in Lifeguarding that includes first aid, professional-level CPR and AED in one certificate. Digital certificate available upon successful completion of course.

PREREQUISITES: Must be at least 15 years old and pass certain swimming requirements

  • Lifeguarding Traditional in-person course format 25 hours, 20 minutes
  • Blended Learning course format 19 hours, 30 minutes in-person/7 hours 30 minutes online (27 hours)
