A Message
from the City Manager
The
City of Hollywood is committed to economic development and
recognizes the crucial role expanding into international markets
can play in helping to diversify and stabilize our local economy.
Hollywood offers many advantages for those engaged in international
trade or those seeking to expand their businesses into the global
marketplace. Ideally located between Fort Lauderdale and Miami,
adjacent to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and
with most of Port Everglades within its boarders, Hollywood
provides easy accessibility by air, sea and land. Port Everglades
is the top-ranked container port in Florida and serves as a gateway
to the world through cargo and cruise connections. Fort
Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport is one of the fastest
growing airports in the country and offers international service to
Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America.
The City welcomes the opportunity to assist foreign businesses
establish a presence in Hollywood or local companies market their
products or services abroad. The City's Office of Business and
International Trade has teamed up with Enterprise Florida, South
Florida's U.S. Commercial Service Export Assistance Center and the
Florida Foreign Trade Association to offer workshops on
Importing/Exporting; help promote and host inbound/outbound
international trade missions; and conduct individual counseling on
pursuing international business. The City has already welcomed
Inbound Trade Missions from Costa Rica, Peru, Guatemala, Dominican
Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, Venezuela and Barbados. To
complement these international outreach efforts, we are also in the
process of invigorating our Sister Cities International Program.
In addition to the City's robust business infrastructure, which is
already home to multinational companies such as Heico Corporation
and the world-renowned Hard Rock International, Inc., Hollywood is
also a warm and welcoming beachfront community with 6 miles of
award-winning beaches, a historic downtown shopping and dining
district and vibrant, culturally diverse neighborhoods.
It is our belief global opportunities are a key component to
realizing a higher level of prosperity for our City by
strengthening our local economy, enhancing employment opportunities
for our residents and building a solid economic foundation for
future generations.
